Apply for Job Job ID 56587 Location Kansas City Full/Part Time Full-Time Add to Favorite Jobs Email this Job Hiring Department Division of Finance and Administration Job Description The Division of Finance and Administration is seeking a Finance & Budget Consultant II (Fiscal Officer) to support one or more of the Colleges, Schools, or Divisions at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). This position will be responsible for the full array of accounting, financial, and budgeting activities for selected units and departments on campus. As such, this position partners with campus unit leadership to formulate budgets, develop financial plans, and monitor financial performance. This position is an important liaison between central finance and campus unit leadership, and is critical to the successful implementation of financial strategies and performance. Duties may include significant financial management of grants, including interpretation and application of appropriate policies and allowable allocation of expenditures, tracking of cost share and local grant match budgets and monitoring and management of subcontracts. Duties may include some supervisory responsibilities Typical duties include: Monitoring all fiscal activity (revenues, expenses, and grants) for assigned units Working with leadership to develop and monitor budgets on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis Participating in the development of strategy (where appropriate) and monitor performance against plan Participating in the development of long range plans and other financial planning Ensuring compliance with all regulatory, fiduciary, fiscal, and reporting requirements Providing financial leadership and expertise to the units being supported Ensuring that resources are well utilized Working as needed on ad hoc projects and reports Working with internal auditors as needed Partnering with the unit leadership to support fact based decision making Monitoring capital asset activity (where appropriate) Collaborating and working with units across campus Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and At least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred CPA or Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred Extensive experience working with budgets and budget development Experience with forecasting and long-range planning Supervisory experience is preferred Demonstrated leadership experience Demonstrated ability to multi-task, collaborate, and support more than one area Knowledge of fund accounting (non-profit, GASB) is very helpful Anticipated Hiring Range $65,776 to $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
