METI is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer with specialized experience in Distributed Video and Network Systems, supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the engineering, integration, and operation of video distribution platforms-specifically the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Digital Distribution Display System (MD3S). This role supports advanced technical operations in test and evaluation environments, including real-time mission and command center support for MDA and Aegis programs.
The Systems Engineer will play a key role in planning, configuring, managing, and troubleshooting digital media systems across enterprise and tactical networks. This position demands a proactive, detail-oriented professional with technical expertise in network video distribution, session management, and cybersecurity implementation.
Duties:

  • Engineer, configure, and maintain distributed video systems using MD3S technologies and components.
  • Support the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of MD3S hardware and software across DoD test ranges, labs, and operational environments.
  • Plan and execute real-time video session management over enterprise and bandwidth-constrained networks.
  • Analyze and assess network and video session performance to ensure uninterrupted mission support.
  • Integrate MD3S systems with C4I and Combat Systems in both lab and field environments.
  • Assist in the planning and deployment of Information Assurance (IA) and Cybersecurity controls to ensure system compliance and operational continuity.
  • Collaborate with Test & Evaluation (T&E) teams during Live Distributed Events and ensure seamless data and display transmission across command and control systems.
  • Participate in mission readiness activities and provide technical support during distributed test events.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, General Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum 5 years of technical experience with DoD Distributed Video and Network Systems.
    • Recent (within the past 2 years) hands-on engineering and operational experience with MD3S hardware and software components.
    • Experience with Digital Media Management Servers, Video Encoders, and Distributed Video Management Software.

  • Technical Expertise:

    • Proficient in planning, configuration, and troubleshooting of distributed video systems and sessions.
    • Knowledgeable in video session management over enterprise and bandwidth-limited networks.
    • Familiar with network and video session performance analysis and diagnostics.

  • Mission Support:

    • Experience supporting Live Distributed MDA or Aegis missions, including T&E operations and systems integration.
    • Understanding of C4I and Combat Systems integration over enterprise and tactical networks.

  • Cybersecurity:

    • Knowledge and practical experience in implementing Information Assurance (IA) and Cybersecurity controls for MD3S systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with virtualization technologies and Software-Defined Networking (SDN).
  • Familiarity with Aegis platforms and Navy shipboard systems.
  • Background in configuring hypervisors and interfacing network nodes with video and network applications.
  • Previous support for distributed at-sea events or live fire tests involving MD3S.

Work Environment & Conditions:

  • May involve work in secure, classified environments.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support mission events or installations.
  • Work may include extended hours during key mission or test events.
