Department of Pediatrics

Job Description

The Department of Pediatrics is looking for a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Research Fellow with a strong background in vascular biology and cardiovascular physiology. The fellow will lead and contribute to translational research projects focused on cardiovascular assessments in small animal models, particularly in the context of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and its cardiovascular complications.

Key Responsibilities:
* Perform vascular function studies using wire and/or pressure myograph, primarily in coronary arteries.
* Conduct in vivo cardiovascular assessments including blood pressure measurements, Doppler ultrasound, and echocardiography in mice.
* Perform molecular analyses, including PCR, Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and tissue staining.
* Analyze, interpret, and present data at lab meetings and scientific conferences.
* Contribute to manuscript preparation and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
* Collaborate with other lab members and assist in mentoring junior trainees.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. (or equivalent doctorate) in Vascular Biology, Cardiovascular Physiology, or a closely related field.

Candidates will be evaluated on:
Hands-on experience with cardiovascular assessments in small animal models.
Proficiency in molecular biology techniques including PCR and Western blotting.
Demonstrated record of peer-reviewed publications.
Expertise in wire and/or pressure myography, particularly in coronary arteries.
Experience in mouse surgical techniques, especially telemetry implantation.
Familiarity with Doppler and echocardiographic imaging in small animals.
Prior research experience in cardiovascular consequences of sleep-disordered breathing or hypoxia models.
