ESSENTIAL TASKS:



  • Responsible for the performance of more than 10, and up to and including 40 hourly employees.
  • Responsible for performance appraisals, managing employee attendance (monitoring) and time coding,
  • Manage all employees - performance, safety, quality, incidents, containments, attendance, policy infraction, performance management and reward for performance in different ways.
  • Assist in the planning (working with internal and external staffing resources, participation in job requirement workouts to determine interviewing questions), interviewing and selection of candidates to fill available departmental positions.
  • Must assist in directing, and training of teams to work in a safe and quality-focused manner to operate all Remelt equipment including, but not limited to saw, grinder, welder, cranes, hot box, ESR and VAR furnaces, to produce a product that meets the customer requirements in a safe and cost-effective manner.
  • Manage all employees' behavior in the areas of Safety (incident reports, closure rates), Quality, Company Policies, Production, Operational Cost, Lean Manufacturing Procedures and On-Time Performance. Communications by Departmental meeting are required for some of these areas.
  • Responsible for all aspects of Remelt operations.
  • Responsible for certification and re-certification of all employees for each skill in critical and non-critical operations.
  • Report all issues of concern to upper management as necessary, using company policy and company Ethic procedures.
  • Handle discipline problems per Department and Company policy.
  • Review all employee performance by using the hourly annual performance review procedure.
  • Work from schedules, tables, charts, general instructions and other data and information to plan and lay out work to ensure an orderly flow of material into and out of the area that meets the customer requirements, including delivering the product on time.
  • Take responsibility for all equipment, tools, parts and area. This is shown by taking appropriate action in requesting maintenance repairs, ordering items through proper channels and maintaining a neat, clean and organized work area.
  • Must show, participate and encourage in problem solving, while following Quality, Department and Company policies.
  • Must take an active part in generating departmental cost reduction savings in the areas of production, processes, procedures or any other means.
  • Participate in both internal and external audits.
  • Required to keep production and other records as necessary.
  • Must continually involve all employees in search for ways to improve Safety, Quality, Production and On-Time to our customers.
  • Required to work overtime and hours other than normal shift hours as required by management.


NON-ESSENTIAL TASKS:



  • Perform other duties as required or directed by management.



REQUIREMENTS:



  • General high school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Over 3 years, up to and including 5 years.
  • Computer skills (ability to learn)
  • At least 3 years in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment
  • Communication skills
