Job Description
Division: Corporate Strategy Department: Communications Reports to: SVP, Chief Communication & Sustainability Officer Status: Non-Exempt Grade: 8 Salary Range: $21.55 - $41.65 Location: Hybrid - Pittsfield, MA (preferred) or Boston, MA Purpose/Objective: The Communications Specialist is responsible for creating content for a variety of communications mediums, managing Company social media, departmental reporting, and supporting special projects. The specialist acts as a liaison with business areas and geographic regions to enhance the client and employee experience, company brand and reputation. Key Accountabilities:
- Create content (writing and visuals) for a variety of communications mediums and audiences that are clear, consistent and strategically aligned:
- Plan, draft and execute quality employee communications and social media content to inform/engage employees, increase brand awareness/affinity and improve reputation; ability to create polished, in-brand video content a plus.
- Assist in planning, drafting and execution of customer communications and public relations content.
- Attend events/connect with other employees as needed to generate polished, professional visuals (photos with video)
- Monitor the bank's social media platforms with timely elevation and logging of negative issues/complaints and other interactions with stakeholders.
- Provide expertise and recommendations to enhance social media content, policy, procedures and internal controls. Complete social media risk assessments and ensure a superior level of customer service. Stay up to date on social media trends/competitor strategies, respond to changes relevant to the bank's communications strategies.
- Coordinate tracking of all communications department metrics and key performance indicators to help prioritize resources, evaluate performance, inform strategies and mitigate risks. Produce and maintain communications reports and dashboards to share with Management.
- Manage departmental operational processes including risk/compliance controls, testing, vendor management, invoice and third-party management to maximize effectiveness and efficiencies as well as ensure alignment with corporate strategic objectives. Maintain department procedures.
- Coordinate special projects, meetings and assist with other duties as assigned.
- Ensures compliance with all banking laws, rules, regulations, and prescribed policies/practices/procedures necessary to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards related to and required by one's duties.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field preferred
Experience:
- 1-3 years of relevant professional experience
Skills & Knowledge:
- Highly organized, professional, proactive self-starter and fast learner who strives for continuous improvement.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, adept at adapting to daily changes in priorities and deliverables, as well as project and deadline management.
- Adept at basic planning and execution of written and visual communications related to public relations, employee communications and social media.
- Attention to detail in collecting information, writing, editing, proofreading and project management.
- Understands or can quickly learn the basics of banking while striving for higher level of understanding.
- Ability to leverage research and analysis to inform planning and analyze outcomes.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint. Knowledge of SmartSheet, social media management, email newsletters/platforms a plus.
