DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Energy Assistance Worker, you will be responsible for processing initial benefit applications as well as CRISIS applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). This is a full-time, seasonal position that typically runs for 6-8 months during the fall and winter seasons to assist clients with the process of applying for heating assistance. After receiving on the job training, you will be performing various duties such as interviewing clients, acting as a liaison with heating vendors, and reviewing and completing applications received in order to recommend approval or disapproval of benefits consistent with federal and state regulations. Diligent attention to detail is vital, as the majority of this position involves data entry. Work assignments are limited in scope and performed under close supervision of an Income Maintenance Casework Supervisor who reviews work for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to program regulations. You may perform other related duties as assigned.

- Seasonal, full-time employment
- This is a non-permanent full-time seasonal position with the LIHEAP program. Seasonal employment runs from approximately October to April but employment may begin as early as September and last until June.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Schedule may changed based upon operational needs.
- Travel and overtime as needed.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time based on bargaining unit seniority and organizational demands once all other eligibility criteria are met. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Williamsport.
- Work Conditions: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in general office work which included interviewing the public; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:

- Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Lycoming County. If no eligible candidates who live within Lycoming County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
