Job Summary:

The PLC Technician I supports basic automation and control systems by assisting in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of PLCs, HMIs, and associated hardware. This role is ideal for individuals beginning their career in industrial automation.

Required Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic PLC/HMI, multimeter use.
  • Basic understanding of PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
  • Familiarity with ladder logic and HMI basics.
  • Proficiency in setting up and scaling all types of analog signals and sensors (0-20mA, 4-20mA, 0-10V, -10V to+10V, thermocouple, RTD, mV).
  • Basic understanding of Ladder logic troubleshooting in Allen Bradley Logix/Studio 5000 Software and Siemens Software or related platform.
  • Experience with reading Electrical circuitry diagrams and use of multimeter testing equipment.
  • Familiarity with Factory Talk View studio HMI software and hardware.
  • Experience in troubleshooting variable frequency drives.
  • Basic Knowledge of Hand Tools.
  • Basic Knowledge of Computers and Windows based programs.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of industrial maintenance or automation experience preferred.
  • Technical certificate in industrial electronics or automation is a plus.
  • OSHA 10 Certification.
  • Basic PLC or electrical safety training.

Job Responsibilities:



  • Upload/download PLC programs using Studio 5000.
  • Wire and install I/O modules and PowerFlex drives.
  • Perform basic HMI configuration.
  • Apply Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Perform basic diagnostics, utilizing multimeters and amp clamps, and troubleshooting under supervision.
  • Read and interpret basic electrical schematics and PLC I/O diagrams.
  • Support senior technicians in system testing and commissioning.
  • Assist in wiring and installation of PLC hardware.
  • Maintain documentation and logs of work performed.
