What You Can Expect Working in the Inventory Specialist Position

The Inventory Specialist plans, directs and coordinates material demands and ordering. In this position, you will own the flow and purchasing of materials for the site, alternate lots, and coordinate with the Production team. The Inventory Specialist will interact with all departments attached to the rental fleet, including but not limited to: Finance, Logistics, Procurement, Sales, Service, and Transportation. This position drives efficiency and productivity by defining material needs and coordinating demand for daily activities. As the Inventory Specialist, you will be responsible for daily interactions with external vendors and will be tasked occasionally with customer support.

Responsibilities
  • Manage receiving, storing, inventorying, issuing, and shipping materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts, in inventory.
  • Advises employees on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock; and related problems.
  • Reviews records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, and to determine adequacy of stock levels.
  • Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through frequent cycle counts and make inventory adjustments as required
  • Review electronic record keeping ensuring material shows on hand and is charged to the appropriate work order or job.
  • Upon receipt of materials, inspect shipment to verify all materials match purchase order/packing list. Properly store materials in the appropriate designated area.
  • Handle shipment receiving duties by ensuring the right item has been delivered, checking for defects and accuracy.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of related work experience.
  • Experience and ability to use a computerized inventory system (such as Sage JobOps).
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a forklift.
  • Excellent communication skills with manufacturing workers, purchasing department, and outside vendors.
  • Basic understanding of inventory control procedures.
  • Extremely organized and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
