Job Description: Microchip has an opportunity for a Principal Engineer-Safety (Principal Safety and Health Engineer) in the Environmental, Health and Safety department at our Fab 4 facility in Gresham, Oregon. This position will also provide occasional support to our site in Bend, Oregon. The Principal Safety and Health Engineer leads all aspects of risk-based safety and industrial health programs, serving as the primary contact for compliance and regulatory agency interactions. The position requires expertise in safety regulations and experience in semiconductor, electronics manufacturing, or other chemically intensive industries. This position will also assist in leading the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT). The Principal Safety and Health Engineer works in fabrication, industrial, and administrative settings, performing both administrative tasks (technical writing, data analysis) and fieldwork (inspections, spill response). Collaboration with Environmental, Facilities, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and other teams is essential to implement procedures and training aligned with Microchip policies. Building effective relationships with management, employees, community representatives, and regulators is key. Essential Functions
