JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Economics Department Undergraduate Programs and Advising Director, the Economics Undergraduate Adviser applies professional concepts to independently provide prescriptive advice on academic policies and procedures for the academic department, including major and minor requirements, and all aspects of course requirements for degree or program completion; and to support special advising projects such as testing accommodations and website management. 80% - Undergraduate Academic Advising and Student Support
- Provides Undergraduate Advising and Student Support on all Economics Department majors, minors and concentrations:
- Monitors and evaluates students' completion of academic requirements.
- Applies professional concepts to independently provide prescriptive advice and assistance to students on academic and degree progress and major requirements for the department.
- Assists students in determining a major, alternative academic options, scheduling conflicts, and similar issues.
- Identifies student needs for programs and services.
- Applies articulated courses to program / degree requirements and certifies degree completion.
- Advises on moderately complex issues such as multiple degrees, or withdrawal from the university.
- Advises department on scheduling needs for student course progression and requirements completion.
- Acts as a team member and backup to department advisers to lend advising continuity.
- Utilizes department and campus administrative systems to facilitate communication.
- Tracks and reports data accurately using university systems for data and student records in compliance with FERPA, PII management and other confidentiality requirements.
- Communicates and exchanges information with other units of the organization and makes referrals to help students with their academic program (e.g., health service, disabled students program, colleges / schools, transfer center, academic department).
- Acts as liaison with appropriate registrar personnel to resolve student records matters.

- Incumbent will serve as the department's web specialist for undergraduate advising or department's liaison to the DRC for testing accommodations.
- The department's undergraduate advising web specialist is responsible for managing all updates in support of the department's undergraduate advising initiatives, in a timely manner, with independence and in compliance with department and divisional standards, campus style and editorial guidelines, and FERPA and confidentiality requirements.
- The department's liaison to the DRC for testing accommodations is responsible for understanding, informing and educating department faculty and personnel on relevant university and department policy and procedures related to DRC accommodations; and preparing for, and coordinating all aspects of exam accommodations fulfilled by the department as opposed to the DRC Testing Center-i.e., communications; coordinating proctors; securing and maintaining testing space; reporting and tracking records as appropriate, using campus and standard office systems, and in compliance with FERPA and relevant confidentiality requirements.
