Assurance Director, Resource Management

Job Summary:

The Assurance Director, Resource Management is responsible for the execution of resource management strategies within the assurance practice domestically and abroad. This role includes designing, developing, and implementing processes and procedures for ensuring resources with appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities are assigned to engagements accordingly. This role will work cross functionally within the assurance practice, partnering leadership to maximize resource sharing and enhance the delivery of BDO to our clients.

Job Duties:



  • Creates and executes a resource management strategy that aligns with assurance practice vision and BDO's overall firm strategy, including consideration of:

    • Firm and practice priorities to maximize resource sharing and enable the delivery of the firm to clients
    • Alternate talent pools, including global workforces and third-party labor

  • Identifies and implements continual resource management process improvements to positively influence deployment of resource decisions with the goal of balancing workload, optimizing utilization, promoting flexibility, and providing broad-based experiences and developmental opportunities while balancing firm and client needs.
  • Exhibits knowledge of firm economics to achieve employee retention, utilization, workload balance, diversity initiatives, and broad-base experience targets.
  • Continually evaluating the appropriate headcount needs in each market/GEO/ Nationally and the appropriate mix of levels based on usage, productivity, growth, etc.
  • Works with the resource management group to identify best practices and create consistency
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to assurance leaders, collaborating to identify issues and execute action plans and make recommendations for targeted hiring of professionals with project-appropriate qualifications.
  • Leads the resource management process within QC-1000 and is a member in the Project Phoenix scheduling workstream which Initiates, organizes, and maintains proper project documentation which includes items such as flowcharts, business process maps, narratives, and actionable project plans
  • Leads the integration of the resource management function for expansion firms
  • Leads the efforts to maintain and enhance the PRM scheduling tool and Resource Management Dashboard. The Assurance Director of Resource Management should understand all issues that are identified and ensure that the issues are resolved in a timely and effective manner, based on level of priority.
  • Monitors the RISE Pods to ensure they are being used effectively and that the pods are creating the right level of integration within the practice. The proper headcount mix between RISE and US should be constantly reviewed for appropriateness and maximum efficiency.
  • Liaises with National Assurance Operations to develop and execute plans for performance management, rewards and recognition, and workforce planning
  • Liaises with BDOAdvantage and National IT on deployment and maintenance of practice scheduling tool and other technologies to support identified business requirements and understands data standardization and integration implications for resource management across platforms
  • Other duties as required


Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • Supervises resource management professionals, providing verbal and written feedback regarding performance



Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:



  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience, required


Experience:



  • Ten (10) or more years of experience, required
  • Prior work experience in public accounting or related field, resource management and operations, preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience, required


License/Certifications:



  • CPA certification, preferred


Software:



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, required
  • Experience with scheduling tool, preferred

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $130,000 - $180,000
Maryland Range: $130,000 - $180,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $130,000 - $180,000
