Arete is seeking an experienced Senior Industrial Security Officer for the execution and sustainment of comprehensive security programs for assigned efforts with contractually mandated security requirements that exceed standard NISPOM (32 CFR Part 117) compliance. This position will serve as a liaison to government security representatives, ensuring full alignment with DoD policy and directives while maintaining a proactive and audit-ready security posture across all assigned programs.

This position is responsible for supporting industrial and program security operations within a comprehensive security program. The selected candidate will work closely with the program security team, contributing to program-specific security tasks and ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements. Reporting to the Program Security Manager, this position plays a key role in sustaining compliance, integrity, and effectiveness of security operations across multiple classified program environments.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in personnel security (PERSEC) functions, including SEAD 3 reporting, nominations, badge access requests, indoctrinations, various briefings, and debriefings, and will assist in preparing for and supporting government inspections and compliance assessments. Demonstrated proficiency with DoD and government security directives, including DoDM 5205.07 Volumes 1-4 (SAP Security Manual), ICD 705 (Physical Security and SCIF Standards), and NISPOM / 32 CFR Part 117, ensuring compliance across security programs.

This role will help implement and manage program-specific security policies, procedures, and documentation. The candidate should be skilled in collaborating with internal customers and U.S. Government security representatives, maintaining personnel security records, and contributing to the development and delivery of security education and training. A strong team-oriented mindset and a proactive approach to sustaining compliance and program continuity are essential. This position is based at our Northridge, CA office and is an exempt, non-supervisory, full-time position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide PERSEC support for SCI and SAP programs
  • Review, track, and monitor security clearance processing activities in accordance with SEAD 3, SEAD 4, and the 13 Adjudicative Guidelines
  • Prepare, process, and review Program Access Requests (PARs) for accuracy and access eligibility
  • Maintain personnel security files for all cleared personnel
  • Maintain daily logs, tracking spreadsheets, and local databases for PERSEC activities
  • Apply the 13 Adjudicative Guidelines in risk assessments, clearance determinations, and SAP/SCI access decisions

Foreign Travel & Reporting:

  • Collect, review, and submit foreign travel, foreign contact, and foreign activity reports in accordance with SEAD 3 reporting requirements
  • Provide defensive foreign travel briefings to cleared personnel
  • Ensure timely updates to government systems and notify appropriate U.S. Government representatives of reportable activities
  • Initiate and maintain records for annual self-inspections, security refresher trainings, indoctrinations, and visit authorizations
  • Support secured space operations, including a working knowledge of opening and securing classified spaces
  • Complete all required technical, security, and compliance training
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external customers to ensure personnel security compliance is achieved through various self-inspections and continuous compliance inspections
  • Assist with the oversight of physical access controls, alarm monitoring, bi-annual IDS alarm testing, and visitor management systems as needed.
  • In coordination with the Physical Security Specialist support semi-annual alarm testing, site inspections, and equipment audits.
  • Support the management of keys, locks, GSA containers, and combinations; maintain accurate documentation (e.g., SF 700, SF 701, SF 702).
  • Provide meeting support as requested/needed.

ICD 705 / SCIF Construction & Compliance

  • Collaborate with Security Team and Stakeholders on compliance for physical/technical security requirements during facility renovations or new construction.

Collaboration & Support

  • Work in partnership with the Security Team learning processes, supporting ongoing efforts, and contributing collaboratively to secure operations.
  • Collaborate with the Security Manager, and provide support as needed.
  • Serve as one of the points of contact and escort for vendors performing maintenance, upgrades, or installations.
  • Participate in government security inspections, and support audit readiness.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support after-hours and emergency response activities related to security systems or construction.
  • Serve as the SCIF Safety Officer, ensuring compliance with facility safety procedures, conducting routine safety inspections, maintaining emergency equipment, and coordinating response actions in accordance with applicable security and safety protocols.
  • Assist with enforcement of prohibited electronic device (PED) policies and perform entry/exit inspections as required.
  • In coordination with the Security Manager, maintain inspectable records in accordance with DoD, IC, and NISPOM guidelines (32 CFR Part 117).
  • Support additional security tasks or projects assigned by the Security Manager.

Experiences and Background We Look For (Required Skills):

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with an active Top-Secret clearance and eligible to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, including formal approval (read-in) to a Special Access Program (SAP)
  • Proficient in Windows 10 and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to produce professional-level security documentation and reports.

The salary range for this role is $90,000/yr to $120,000/yr; however, Arete considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to: the position and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
