Job Description: The Lead AVID Tutor will collaborate with and lead their school-based AVID tutor team with the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) elective tutorial process. AVID tutor teams will facilitate small group inquiry-based tutorials of middle or high school students during the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) elective and AVID Excel classes during the school day. The Lead AVID tutor will serve as the conduit for communication and training between the AVID District Director and the AVID Tutor team. Additionally, they will collaborate with the classroom teacher to create tutorial refinement and adjustments targeted at increasing student success. Lead AVID Tutors will be required to conduct quarterly reflective feedback and assist with upcoming professional learning agendas that support division-wide tutor training. The lead tutor will be required to work the full AVID tutor assignment, inclusive of all hours/days for the assigned school, or approximately 14-25 hours per week, based on the school schedule. Lead Tutors may be asked to support the planning and implementation of schoolwide tutorials where creative programming exists beyond the AVID class. Priority will be granted to those who are college-age or have completed a four-year degree or beyond, have AVID tutor experience, have demonstrated leadership qualities in the past, and can meet the hours necessary to support the elective class schedule.
