CLA is growing and seeking to hire a Manager/Director - SALT National Tax Office to join our talented team. The position offers growth, flexibility and a collaborative work environment.

In this position, the candidate should have a strong technical background in tax and accounting, along with leadership skills to mentor and supervise staff. In addition, the candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment.

How you'll create opportunities in this Manager/Director - SALT National Tax Office role:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and work closely with leadership to help bridge NTO-Federal and SALT Group together by cooperative initiatives such as collaborative LITLs, articles, webinars, internal tax trainings, tax research subscription needs and client opportunities.
  • Identify tax savings and develop specific multistate content.
  • Identify and communicate SALT developments for growth opportunities and legislative changes and drive business development through Thought Leadership publications.
  • Develop SALT Tools to be used specifically by the SALT Group and CRL's to bolster SALT presence within the firm, SALT quality and SALT return compliance risk management.
  • Lead the annual SALT inspection process and coordinate with the SALT Group.
  • Maintain and update SALT's content in the Tax Manual for the SALT risk areas identified for the firm (nexus, tax return compliance, PET, transactions).

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Experience: Six plus years of experience serving in a tax role with a public accounting firm and/or professional services firm.
  • Certification/ Licenses: CPA certification. JD or EA (Enrolled Agent) may be accepted in place of CPA certification.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of State & Local Tax required.
