What you'll do

In this hands-on role on AlixPartners' Corporate Services team, you will be a partner to the Consulting and the Accounting functions, supporting key financial processes including forecasting, budgeting, client billing, revenue recognition and accounts receivable. You will collaborate with members of our diverse and dynamic strategic finance team while tackling complex financial issues and enabling the continued growth of the firm. This role comes with ample opportunity to work with smart people, drive change, and implement tangible improvements to the business. You will be part of a global Strategic Finance team with a concentration in EMEA.

The Strategic Finance Analyst is a full-time position located in Southfield, Michigan, and reports to a Strategic Finance Manager. Paid relocation is not available.



  • Support Managing Directors through billing, collection, A/R, and accounting processes, mainly in the UK but with some involvement with the Americas businesses.
  • Support the region's annual budgeting and regular re-forecasting process
  • Respond to inquiries from the accounting group regarding client engagement status and economics; identify potential issues and notify appropriate parties.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly reports, data, and financial analysis to Managing Directors; respond to one-off requests for data and analysis.
  • Support cross-functional projects/processes in connection with firm-wide finance initiatives.
  • Help prepare internal finance/accounting presentations.
  • Review and understand consulting agreements with clients and subcontractors, identifying issues where present.
  • Extract, review and prepare accounting/finance data and collaboration with Managing Directors throughout the engagement life cycle, including setup, delivery, and invoicing.
  • Evaluate and handle sensitive, confidential calls, emails, internal and client data with appropriate care, exercising sound judgment in responding to unique and urgent situations.
  • Balance conflicting requests from internal and external parties, finding creative ways to meet the needs of different individuals. Handle other requests for routine finance, accounting, and administrative tasks.

What you'll need



  • Bachelor's degree required; ideal candidate has accounting/finance/business/economics or related field.
  • 1-2 years' accounting/finance experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills displaying the highest degree of integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to work outside of normal U.S. business hours, and as urgent situations and unique projects/needs arise.
  • Enjoys identifying creative process improvements and finding ways to capture or extract data needed by others and present or modify it according to their requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger picture which considers any cross-business implications
  • Ability to gain an in-depth understanding of the business, over time, and find new ways to enhance the value brought to our firm.
  • Ability to take direction from leadership, consult with manager on approach and initiate required actions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Core working hours for this role are 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM EST, Monday - Friday; willingness to work outside of normal U.S. business hours, and as unique projects/needs arise.
  • Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday.
