Job Description:

Perkins Coie's nationally recognized Emerging Companies & Venture Capital Law practice is seeking a highly motivated Paralegal Assistant to join its offices. Under supervision, this position will assist paralegals, lawyers, and clients with a variety of duties.

In addition, as a member of the Perkins Coie professional support staff team, this position is also responsible for promoting and maintaining the goodwill and reputation of the firm. In this capacity, the Paralegal Assistant is expected to maintain the highest level of professional conduct and confidentiality.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
These essential functions are primary job duties that the incumbent must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation.

  • Assist with maintaining corporate records.
  • Assist with maintaining stock ledgers and capitalization and option plan administration.
  • Assist with "blue sky" research and state and federal filings.
  • Assist with due diligence production and/or review.
  • Draft miscellaneous transaction documents.
  • Assist paralegals with closings on venture capital financing and merger and acquisition transactions.
  • Maintain positive contact with clients and observe confidentiality of client matters.
  • Conduct basic internet research.Ability to access and understand information contained on secretary of state websites.
  • Keep accurate time records.
  • Prepare material for internal and external distribution.
  • Obtain factual information from clients and third parties, including governmental agencies.
  • Keep track of case/matter deadlines.
  • Perform computer database input and retrieval.
  • Be present at work during regularly scheduled working hours and as needed in the job position, consistent with the firm's attendance expectations.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Ability to track and record time accurately and timely.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Requires a 4-year degree or equivalent, and 1-plus years' experience as a corporate paralegal.
  • Law firm experience is a plus.
  • Fluency in Spanish, written and verbal, is required.
  • Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe, Excel, Google Docs.

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) plan, medical, dental, and vision insurance, accrued paid time off plan starting at 20 days annually, personal medical and parental leave, up to 10 paid holidays, and family care benefits. This position may be filled in the following location(s). The listed compensation range reflects the typical pay for this role, though it is rare for new hires to receive an offer at the top of the range. Actual compensation may vary depending on experience, skills, market conditions, and internal equity.

Los Angeles compensation range: $47,650 to $67,170 annually
