About the Job

The School of Public Health division of Health Policy and Management is seeking applications for a temporary up to two years part-time 50% (20 hours/week) Project Coordinator (8353RG Research Prof 3 - Research Coordinator-Generalist).

Starting pay is dependent upon the selected candidate's relevant qualifications, experience, and internal equity: $30.24 to $34.81 per hour ($31,449 to $36,202 annually at 50% time (20 hrs/wk)

This means that the incumbent may have the option to work at least partially remotely. Onsite location: Mayo Memorial Building, 420 Delaware St SE, Minneapolis, MN. Ability to travel to community-based events in the Twin Cities metro area, including occasional evenings and weekends.

This position is temporary 50% (20 hours/week), potentially longer depending upon funding availability.

The Valuing Immigrant Traditions and Aging with Life Successfully (VITALS) team at the University of Minnesota conducts community-engaged research to enhance the health and well-being of immigrant older adults. The VITALS projects team works with communities to develop, test, and translate culturally appropriate interventions to decrease physical and cognitive disability in immigrant older adults. The coordinator will facilitate successful project implementation through engagement with collaborators, community partners, and the immigrant community at large, data collection, analysis, and dissemination.

Specific responsibilities of this position include:

Study Coordination (55%)

  • Lead day-to-day study operations, including participant recruitment and enrollment.
  • Coordinate team meetings and maintain regular communication among investigators and collaborators.
  • Prepare and manage IRB submissions, protocol modifications, and reports.
  • Administer and oversee data collection via online surveys, phone interviews, or in-person methods.
  • Monitor for adverse events and ensure compliance with IRB and NIH guidelines.
  • Train and supervise student workers assisting with project tasks.

Community Recruitment & Outreach (20%)

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with Black immigrant-serving organizations.
  • Organize and attend community-based events to promote participation in research studies.
  • Develop culturally appropriate recruitment materials (flyers, posters, email templates).
  • Support event logistics including scheduling, setup, and refreshments.

Process Improvement (10%)

  • Refine project workflows for recruitment, consent, data collection, and intervention delivery.
  • Identify opportunities for quality improvement and ethical research innovation.
  • Contribute to the development of culturally responsive engagement strategies.

Administrative Support (10%)

  • Coordinate meetings with internal teams, community stakeholders, and partner organizations.
  • Track meeting agendas, minutes, and follow-up tasks.
  • Support interdisciplinary collaboration across university and community networks.

Data Management & Dissemination (5%)

  • Conduct or assist with basic qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
  • Help develop presentations, infographics, manuscripts, and community-facing reports.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS plus at least 4 years of experience or an advanced degree plus 2 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal eight years.
  • Demonstrated commitment to value diversity and contribute to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Experience in process improvement and/or project management.
  • Proven skills in prioritizing tasks, multitasking, and meeting deadlines while maintaining compliance.
  • Basic proficiency with Excel spreadsheet use
  • Proven ability to work effectively within teams, including collaboration with community members, researchers, and research assistants.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in public health, social sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience coordinating and managing human-subjects related research projects
  • Prior involvement with populations affected by Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.
  • Prior experience entering, managing, and coordinating various databases and sources of data (i.e., Access, Excel, Qualtrics, Redcap)
  • Experience recruiting and enrolling research participants
  • Prior experience with designing and administering online surveys and similar tools
  • Personal and/or professional experience working with immigrant communities
  • Experience enrolling, interviewing, and surveying research participants in-person, online, and/or over the telephone.
