Position Summary:

The Director of Network Planning develops and leads strategic initiatives that ensure Nestle's Distribution network provides dynamic agility and speed at scale in support of our customer fulfillment activities. This role is responsible for everyday throughput, effective long-term sizing of our network, throughput capability and primary and secondary deployment of finished goods throughout all networks. The director collaborates across key internal business groups, including Physical Logistics (Transportation/Warehousing/Customer Service), Planning, Finance, Division/Operating Company leadership as well as external business partners to design and execute strategic initiatives that contribute to on-time delivery, total delivered cost, and market-share increasing customer segmented solutions.

This role is based in Solon, Ohio and works a hybrid schedule blend of in office/work from home.

Job Responsibilities:

Manage the teams responsible for Network Strategy, Deployment, and Business Optimization and Strategy to achieve maximum throughput and capability of Nestle's Fulfillment network and ensuring COF at the most optimal cost. Utilize the Talent Performance Management and other Nestle team/employee tools to ensure adequate resources, development and succession within the team.

Network Planning People Leadership

  • Create and foster high performance culture (through leadership of direct reports and across greater supply chain organization), focused on engagement, accountability, innovation, collaboration, continuous improvement, and Nestle Ways of Leading.
  • Hire, develop, coach, evaluate, reward, and retain a highly-qualified team of supply chain professionals.
  • Ensure that the organization has strong end to end mindset as well as analysis, problem solving, and continuous improvement skills.
  • Lead and develop a team that consistently delivers to improvement of inventory flow, service and cost goals,as well as seamlessly navigates change and transitions to commercial and route to market strategies

Network Strategy and Execution

  • Develop end-to-end product flow strategies to optimize availability and costs across all Divisions and Operating Companies and product groups.
  • Responsible for communication and establishment of Fulfillment key metrics to business stakeholders

Own/deliver Fulfillment Update to business stakeholders

  • Responsible for the tactical execution and direct prioritization of the networks including leading cross functional Network Execution meetings to ensure operations stays on time to our customers.
  • Responsible for key cross functional inputs needed for planning based on actual performance (throughput,appointments, pallet positions).
  • Coordinates outside storage needs based on requirements determined through short and medium term distribution plan including shared space capacity considerations across operating companies and influencing outside storage requirements where needed
  • Assess network and inventory optimization needs based on supply chain complexity, performance goals, and
    through partnership with IT teams, ensure that analytics tools best support them.
  • Responsible for regular customer boundary alignments and routinely identify optimal cost to serve,reliability and network feasibility
  • Partner with Strategy and Finance teams, providing input regarding site-level Network Strategy attributes to best inform MBS and Strategic Planning and innovative approaches, processes, and solutions that support supply chain and division strategies, and customer-centric fulfillment capabilities.

Deployment

  • Lead the execution of deployment of finished/semi finished goods from Nestle plants and co-manufacturers to Nestle distribution centers plan based on Network strategy distribution requirements.
  • Cross functional alignment with Divisions, Planning and Order Fulfillment on customer allocations,prioritizations and inventory management.
  • Responsible for Supply Payload and optimization truckloads using system tools to maximize payload while maintaining target service levels.
  • Heavy Integration and cross functional alignment with Transportation Load Planning
  • Responsible for redeployment costs of items between Distribution centers which increase service or reducespotential salvage.
  • Leads optimization of the distribution models within OMP with Supply Chain NeXT's Distribution Model Management team.

Business Optimization and Strategy

  • Lead Planning strategy development and execution in conjunction with Demand Planning, Supply Planningand Planning Executive leadership
  • Direct Continuous Process Improvements in all aspects of Network Planning
  • Leverage and optimize technology for data collection and analysis to improve data driven insights and execution optimization
  • Embrace problem solving methodologies to reduce waste and drive improvements.
  • Lead functional capability building for all of NUSA Planning including supporting competency development
    management and gap closure.
  • Lead Planning long term leave support team members who also optimize planning process improvements.
  • Coordinate with all Business Optimization teams across Planning to ensure end to end optimization to prevent siloed optimization.

Collaboration with other Supply Chain and Nestle teams

  • Partner with Finance teams, providing input regarding Network Strategy attributes to best inform MBS andStrategic Planning
  • Partner with IS/IT/Analytics to support development of strategic digital initiatives for Planning
  • Collaborate across supply chain including BSC/ CFSC/ Warehouse/ Transportation/ Demand and Supply
  • Planning to drive customer service and COF at optimal costs.
  • Provide recommendations to warehousing/transportation teams regarding shipping/labor strategies
  • Responsible for partnership and communication regarding Fulfillment key metrics to business stakeholders
  • Act as Fulfillment liaison for supply chain as a service (SCAAS) efforts; including identifying change impacts for segmented solutions and ensuring fulfillment teams have appropriate cascade and guidance
  • Lead US16 efforts for best practice sharing and synergy identification in Fulfillment Flow with NiM SupplyChain leadership
  • Ownership of physical capacity and throughput models for acquisitions and divestitures
  • Capture market/industry trends and other headwinds that may influence/impact efficient flow of headwindsand determine mitigating actions

Requirements and Minimum Education:

  • College degree required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Ten years experience in Supply Chain related disciplines; experience in two or more functional areas required including warehousing, transportation, deployment, supply chain planning, etc.
  • Highly developed process engineering skills.
  • Highly skilled collaborator and influencer.
  • Demonstrated capability in build effective teams.
  • Broad experience working across multiple supply chain functions, with proven continuous improvement skills
  • Keen business acumen, analytical and financial skills, and attention to detail with a solid record of delivering superior business results
  • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills with a proven record of building relationships, influencing others, and collaborating across multiple corporate functions
