Job Summary: This position is responsible for the maintenance and logistical support of the service tool inventory. Responsibilities will include procurement, maintenance, and logistical support of Machine Division tool room inventory in assigned branch location(s).

The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices daily: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

Essential Functions:



  • Identifies, organizes, labels tool room inventory to assure accurate input into computerized database.
  • Maintains tools in branch inventory to assure safe and serviceable condition and availability for use.
  • Processes tools from inventory into work orders and returns them to inventory after use by service technicians.
  • Records tool information into computerized database on an on-going basis.
  • Inspects, cleans, and repairs, (or makes arrangement for the repair of) tools after return from service technicians before returning them to inventory.
  • Analyzes new product introduction information and recommends procurement of tooling needed to support Caterpillar and allied product in the Holt Cat service territory.
  • Reviews tool budget and records to maintain awareness of costs associated with providing tooling while assuring best usage of company financial resources.
  • Instructs service technicians in the safe and proper use of tools, where necessary.
  • Procures and maintains serviceable condition tooling within budgetary guidelines and limits.
  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission.
  • Works safely always and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Performs other duties assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of tooling, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of safe work procedures and practices.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and knowledge of machine electronic systems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under fast-paced, time constraining circumstances.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair.


Education and Experience:



  • More than two years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.


Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • None.


Travel:



  • Minimal travel expected for this position.


Physical Requirements:



  • Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
  • Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
  • Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment.
  • Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment.
  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.


Work Environment:



  • Regularly works around moving mechanical parts.
  • May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity.
  • Noise level may be loud at times
  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment.
  • Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment.
  • Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places.
