Overview Element has an opportunity for an Associate Metallurgist. The Associate Metallurgist will support the metallurgical laboratory in performing a wide range of material testing and analysis activities. This role is responsible for preparing and analyzing metal samples, interpreting test results, maintaining lab equipment, and contributing to continuous improvement in lab practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in metallurgical principles, hands-on laboratory experience, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment. Salary: $64,000 - $70,000/year (depending on experience) Responsibilities
Conduct metallurgical testing and analysis, including but not limited to microstructural evaluation, hardness testing, tensile testing, and failure analysis.
Skills / Qualifications
Work Environment: This position is based in a metallurgical laboratory and may involve occasional work in adjacent industrial or production areas. The role requires frequent standing, walking, and bending throughout the day to perform hands-on tasks. The Associate Metallurgist must be able to sit for extended periods during data entry and analysis, and must be comfortable working with small tools and precision instruments. The role also requires the ability to lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds. Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and lab coats must be worn as required to ensure safety during sample preparation and testing. The lab environment is temperature-controlled but may involve brief exposure to noise, dust, or chemicals in compliance with safety standards. NOTE: This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services. U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status under 8 U.S.C. * 1324b(a)(3), or U.S. Government export authorization is required.
