Hourly Pay Range:

$56.18 - $87.08 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Director, Community Impact and Engagement

Position Highlights:

  • Required Travel: Yes, within all sites, as needed

The Director of Community Impact and Engagement will advance community health and social impact by leading the System's work related to the Community Health Needs Assessments (CHNA), community benefit, community relations, and health and wellness programming. The person in this role will play a strategic and pivotal role between hospital leadership and community stakeholders and will create spaces for dialogue and collective impact, planning and implementation.

A successful candidate will have the ability to lead a team that coordinates and executes programming that addresses the unique health needs of each community while also aligning and collaborating with system initiatives and priorities. Additionally, the person in this role will be expected to have a deep knowledge of health equity and support strategy design by educating Endeavor Health leadership about community priorities and needs. The right candidate will also lead programming and initiatives across multiple departments and entities.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for overseeing the development of Community Health Needs Assessments (CHNA) and 3-year community benefit implementation plans through input and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Ensures compliance with all CHNA regulatory requirements mandated in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Provides internal and external communications on Endeavor Health priorities and plans, as well as progress on those plans to strengthen impact. Manages community benefit reporting processes with responsibility for the Community Benefit Inventory for Social Accountability (CBISA) tracking software

  • Responsible for aligning and driving system-wide processes for CHNA and implementation plan development and benefits tracking and reporting

  • Serves as Community Impact and Engagement team liaison with the Marketing team. Leads efforts to communicate impact of the anchor strategy, community programs, Community Investment Fund, health and wellness activities and other initiatives of the Community Impact team. Develops and implements a strategy to infuse Community Impact within internal and external communication channels

  • Establishes a coordinated approach to community health and wellness programs and education across the system. Oversees and provides leadership for community outreach initiatives

  • Serves as the key point person for local community relations and represents Endeavor Health's mission, vision, and values. Equips the Community Impact team to execute community activities and develops measurement tools to assess program effectiveness based on established goals and metrics

  • Aligns approach across system to review, evaluate and prioritize sponsorship and civic membership opportunities. Manages community impact budget to support sponsorship and membership priorities

  • Maintains close alignment with Hospital presidents and other executive leaders to ensure they are appropriately represented and connected to community leaders and have deep understanding of issues and opportunities that exist within local communities. Serves as the primary liaison between community leaders and Hospital presidents

  • Develops and executes a vision for Community Advisory Councils and similar forums to generate input and share information with community leaders and influencers. Works in close collaboration with Anchor Strategy Lead to facilitate role of Community Advisors to anchor strategy. Leads strategy to align approach to Community Advisory Councils across system with flexibility for local variation

  • Maintains lists and provides regular communications to community VIPs to reinforce alignment with System and entity level priorities

  • Identifies opportunities to support community health needs and work with cross-functional teams to deliver and communicate impact

  • Reports outcomes of community partnerships to internal governance bodies, including Community Advisory Councils and executive leaders on an ongoing basis for approval, support and recommendations

  • Coordinates with the Government Affairs/Advocacy team, Social Impact and HR teams and governance bodies and other teams and governance bodies as appropriate to ensure consistent messaging and strategy. Works with other Endeavor Health departments and clinical staff as needed to identify unmet community health needs

  • Participates in internal and external task forces, Boards of Directors and working groups and executes other projects as assigned in the interest of advancing Endeavor Health's mission of helping everyone in our communities be their best

What you will need:

  • Education:

    • Required: Bachelor's degree in Community Health, Public Health, Social Services, or related field

    • Preferred: Master's degree in Community Health, Public Health, Social Services, or related field.

  • Experience:

    • Eight (8) or more years of experience in community relations, community-based programming, community organizing, or marketing

    • Five (5) or more years of experience in a leadership role

  • Unique or Preferred Skills:

    • Experience leading a team in the planning and execution of programs and events to benefit the community

    • Ability to lead complex processes involving multiple internal and external stakeholders

    • Excellent public speaking skills

    • Proven effective management and strong presentation skills

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

    • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

    • Demonstrated expertise in health optimization and social determinants of health

    • Ability to adapt to changing cultural contexts and exhibit cultural competence

    • Ability to manage relationships with several internal and external stakeholders

    • Problem-solving skills

    • Conflict management skills

  • Other:

    • May directly supervise a team of up to 5

    • Indirectly supervises the work of multiple stakeholders in a variety of departments
