This position reports to the Ultrasound Supervisor and operates within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
Must be able to effectively interact appropriately to an individual's intellectual level and physical ability including infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Provide high quality imaging, project excellence in customer service behavior and quality of service and provide exemplary patient care. Scan patients in areas of abdomen, pelvis, head, high resolution (small parts) and vascular areas. Recognize desired information pattern and record photographically in order to ensure proper diagnosis of normal and abnormal structures. Perform Doppler studies, trans-vaginal studies and obstetric studies; and assist with cyst puncture or biopsy procedures. - Participate in reviewing interpretation or various daily scans with Radiologist. Review digital images as required, ensuring a high-quality image. Ensure proficiency in use of the Radiology Information System and PACS. Train others in the use of the Radiology Information System and PACS. Assist in scheduling add on or emergent patients. Interview patients in order to obtain information pertinent to the examination being performed. Coordinate, collaborate, & communicate with other imaging modalities on providing efficient care of patients undergoing multiple modality exams. Create and sustain a team environment communicate effectively and appropriately and work collaboratively. Assist radiologist during interventional imaging procedures to ensure compliance of JCAHO and departmental policies and procedures and safety standards. Report issues of non-compliance to these standards to the Team Leader immediately. Assist in performance of quality control studies and gathering of quality improvement data as required. Keep current with new positions, procedures, policies, and techniques as established by the licensing board and Cooley Dickinson Health Care. Work flexible hours as department needs are assessed and be available for call as needed and required. Assist with student training as necessary and provide input into student evaluations. Maintain established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, confidentiality, quality improvement program, compliance, safety, infection control and environmental standards. Maintain professional growth and development through attendance at seminars, workshops, conferences or in-services, professional affiliations or journals to stay abreast of current trends in field of expertise. Meet annual competency and retraining requirements. Attend meetings as required. This position is part of the 1199SEIU Bargaining Unit at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Education Physical Requirements
