The Temporary Academic Advisor will play a crucial role in supporting our students, particularly as they prepare their fall schedules. This position involves providing direct advising to incoming new and transfer students, answering their questions, and directing them to appropriate university resources. While you'll be part of a collaborative advising team with existing support, your contributions will be vital in maintaining seamless student services during this transition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide academic advising to incoming new and transfer students within the majors, with a particular focus on fall course registration and schedule planning.
- Answer student inquiries regarding academic policies, degree requirements, and university procedures.
- Guide students in navigating university resources and support services.
- Collaborate with the existing advising team to ensure comprehension.

Minimum Experience/Education |
- At least 1-2 years of professional experience in a higher education or student services setting, with demonstrated responsibility in student advising, support, or administrative coordination

- Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to clearly convey information to students.
- Demonstrated skills in judgment, decision-making, problem-solving, organization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to quickly learn, University, College, and Departmental policies, procedures, and requirements.
- Strong communication skills (reiterated for emphasis on importance).
- Proficiency in common office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and instructional/meeting software (e.g., Zoom).
- Demonstrated understanding of the developmental needs of college students
