Job Description

If so, Danfoss Power Solutions invites you to apply for an exciting opportunity as a Product Engineer within our Engineering team

Danfoss is seeking a Product Engineer to join our engineering team of the Industrial Clutch and Brake product line. The focus of the role is to be an integral part of the team developing and supporting innovative brake and clutch designs. This involves essential engineering tasks related to new product development, existing product engineering, and test lab activities. It also involves collaboration with a cross-functional team to understand and respond to perspectives from other functions such as Operations, Portfolio Management, Quality, etc.

The Product Engineer will report daily out of our Brooklyn, OH facility and report directly to the Engineering Manager. This facility is an ITAR site. This means that all applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR, ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Job Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following.




  • Creating mechanical designs and drawings for clutch and brake products.
  • Performing and documenting design calculations and verifying necessary tolerance stack-ups for new designs and revisions.
  • Developing verification plans using established engineering processes. Executing tests, analyzing engineering data, writing effective test requests, and clearly summarizing findings in technical reports. Presenting results to the organization and customers in support of engineering projects.
  • Maintaining product design control, initiating and following through on engineering changes, and ensuring complete documentation of new designs or changes to ensure robust data quality.
  • Resolving product performance issues through team-oriented problem solving and documenting according to the 8D process for root cause analysis.
  • Providing technical support to other functional areas and interfacing with internal organizations such as sales, manufacturing, marketing, service, quality, and purchasing, as well as external customers and suppliers.
  • Initiating and executing project plans, including scheduling actions and allocating resources to meet project objectives. Examples include qualifying new suppliers or processes to reduce costs, enhancing product quality or reliability through design improvements, and developing and launching new features for existing products.

Required Qualifications:




  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution
  • 3-5 years of design, test, or product engineering experience
  • General understanding of manufacturing processes relates to machining and design for manufacturability
  • Solid hands-on mechanical and troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated technical background and work experience
  • Demonstrate ability to balance actively seeking input and being self-directed to achieve agreed upon objectives
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Preferred Qualifications:




  • Masters or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience working with design and analysis tools such as CAD and PLM
  • Working knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, clutch, and brake systems and the respective components
