Job Title: Parts Supervisor

Company: Interstate Power Systems

Interstate Power Systems is seeking a skilled and motivated Parts Supervisor to join our team at our Portage, Indiana location. The Parts Supervisor will oversee the parts department, ensuring efficient inventory management, exceptional customer service, and seamless operations to support our heavy-duty diesel truck, equipment, and generator services. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities



  • Inventory Management: Oversee parts inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and tracking parts for heavy-duty diesel trucks, equipment, and generators.
  • Team Supervision: Lead, train, and motivate a team of parts department staff to ensure efficient operations and high-quality customer service.
  • Customer Service: Assist customers, both internal and external, with parts inquiries, ensuring prompt and accurate fulfillment of requests.
  • Vendor Coordination: Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts and negotiate favorable terms.
  • Process Optimization: Implement and maintain procedures to streamline parts department operations, including inventory control and order processing.
  • Sales Support: Collaborate with sales and service teams to support customer needs and promote parts sales.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions, sales, and returns using inventory management software.
  • Compliance: Ensure all parts department activities comply with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.


Qualifications



  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in parts management, with a strong preference for candidates with expertise in heavy-duty diesel trucks, equipment, and/or generators.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and manage a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office, ERP systems).
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of parts for heavy-duty diesel trucks, equipment, and generators is highly preferred.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot issues, manage priorities, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in business, automotive technology, or a related field is a plus.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and stand or walk for extended periods.


Preferred Skills



  • Experience with diesel engine components, including brands like Cummins, Detroit Diesel, or Caterpillar.
  • Knowledge of generator systems and related parts.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific software for inventory and parts management.
