Position Overview The Kansas University Center on Disabilities (KUCD), a designated research center within the Life Span Institute at KU, is seeking a Research Project Coordinator to support implementation of research projects with Grades 3 through 5 students with learning difficulties in reading and mathematics. KUCDD is recognized as a leading research center in the field of disability and has projects across the life span focused on students and adults with and at risk for disabilities, across academic, social, transition, and employment and community living domains. KUCD has a strong focus on research, as well as community services (including technical assistance, community education, and direct services), information dissemination, and interdisciplinary training. This position is located at the University of Kansas-Lawrence. Under the supervision of Dr. Elizabeth Stevens, this position will support the day-to-day implementation of two federally funded research grants awarded to the University of Kansas: Math Words (https://ies.ed.gov/funding/grantsearch/details.asp?ID=5888) and Align (https://ies.ed.gov/funding/grantsearch/details.asp?ID=5886). The Project Coordinator (PC) will work closely with the Principal Investigator to coordinate and implement all project activities in schools. Due to complex state employment laws, the University of Kansas may be unable to hire fully remote workers for this position outside of Kansas. Specifically, we cannot currently offer employment to candidates residing in the following states: California and Delaware. Job Description 60% - The PC will implement daily project activities in participating schools, which includes: site visit to local schools to meet with teachers support implementation of instruction assist with delivering professional development conduct observations of teachers' instruction conduct focus groups with teachers assist with data collection (e.g., audio recordings, administering pretesting and posttesting). 30% - The PC will assist the Project Director with: preparing materials for instruction (e.g., creating and revising intervention materials) professional development (e.g., creating PowerPoints for professional development sessions) and assessment. The PC will also assist with coding implementation fidelity data (i.e., listening to audio recordings to assess teachers' implementation of instructional practices). The PC will also assist with maintaining meeting notes and organizing project files. 10% - The PC may assist with dissemination efforts including: preparing dissemination products updating websites sharing project information on social media. Position Requirements Travel to school sites and collaborate with administrators, teachers, and students. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field and one year of experience in field of study (preferably in the elementary grades) OR high school diploma and 4 years of related experience. One year of experience working with students with learning disabilities or difficulties in the areas of reading and/or mathematics, as evidenced by application materials. Strong organizational and time-management skills, as evidenced by application materials and work experience. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience teaching Special Education or a related field as evidenced in application materials. Previous experience that required administering assessments, as demonstrated by previous work experience. Previous experience that required collaborating, incorporating feedback, and communicating well with others, as evidenced by application materials. Experience demonstrating oral and written communication skills for a variety of audiences, including students, teachers, administrators, and the public, as evidenced by application materials.
