Job Overview

The Core Analytics Engineer provides expert analysis, development, and support for priority corporate IT projects related to efficiency, reporting, documentation and process improvements. They support data warehouse and business intelligence initiatives through the analysis, design, development, deployment, and maintenance of custom applications and solutions that provide access to business information and improve business processes. The role is responsible for Analysis work (working with non-Technical Managers), development work (actually coding solutions), and long-term monitoring and maintenance (using IT tools to ensure the solutions are continuing to work effectively). They should be confident conducting business meetings directly without needing an intermediary when working directly with stakeholders.


Principal Accountabilities

Work directly with the Operations team to design and develop processes, including code, to enhance daily operational tasks as well as enable new business opportunities.

Work with the Business Intelligence team to maintain the feeds to and from the data warehouse, implement BI dashboards, use their integral core knowledge to find data and present it for use in dashboards (through the warehouse). Additionally, they may be called upon to develop applications to support the needs of the business in regard to business intelligence.

Accountable for adherence to compliance standards including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), as well as quality of documentation and timeliness of assigned projects. All core projects must follow the defined Software Development Lifecycle, and documentation of such must be available for audit purposes. Duties

  • Work directly with Operations managers to develop code to enhance daily operations and system changes.
  • Retrofit existing custom code to comply with vendor release updates when they occur.
  • Design and build applications to enhance the vendor-supplied software to accomplish "fast to market" products and services.
  • Responsible for Data Orchestration and Extract, Transfer, and Load functions from the core application to reporting warehouses.
  • Act as a key resource to provide expert counsel related to business intelligence questions and topics and advise on how to use the core bank data effectively as it relates to the development of custom applications.
  • Consolidate change requests related to the data warehouse, application, and reporting environments, reviewing and managing them to ensure operational performance and stability.
  • Document code changes, configuration changes, incident tickets and fixes.
  • Accountable for ensuring all aspects of product development follow compliance and security best practices.
  • Resolve a variety of high impact problems/projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards.
  • Provide expertise in area and advanced knowledge of applications programming and ensure application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint.
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals.
  • Provide in-depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define issues and develop innovative solutions.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or Accounting
  • Five years of relevant Analysis and Development experience
  • Experience supporting business applications within a financial institution
  • Demonstrated knowledge of architecture / systems engineering best practices, systems process design, software design, programming principles, or equivalent processes.
  • Proficiency in IBM I-Series (AS/400) technologies - Language (RPG400, RPGLE), CLLE, Database/Display/Subfile concepts, DB2/400, SQL/400.
  • Experience developing/supporting software solutions on the IBM platform (Formerly AS/400, iSeries, System i).
  • Exhibit relentless focus in software reliability engineering standards embedded into development standards.
  • Knowledge of database systems, cloud computing platforms, and SQL.
  • Familiarity with source control management best practices.
  • Understanding of security best practices in software development.
  • High energy level, strong work ethic and attention to detail. Energy and drive to execute to agreed-to commitments. Detail-oriented and conscientious.
  • Other reporting skillsets are also valuable: Power Query, Power BI, Tableau, SQL
  • Ability to troubleshoot, research, and resolve defects found in system software.
