Summary Under the direction of a registered/licensed nurse (RN), the PCA as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team assists in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment. Key Responsibilities * Patient care plan is carried out as directed by Registered Nurse. * Patient physical care is provided such as bed bath, toileting, grooming, changing bed linen, etc. per established guidelines. * Patient general care is provided such as positioning, lifting, and turning, and using adaptive and transfer equipment per established guidelines. * Patient monitoring activities such as vital signs and blood glucose are performed per established guidelines. * Patients are prepared for meals, assisting when appropriate to meet patients' need. * Patient rounds are performed regularly, and call lights are answered promptly to meet patients' needs. * Patient care is documented in a timely manner adhering to established standards. * Patient room clutter is organized to make best use of space and clean environment. * Specimens are obtained and labeled consistent with established procedures. * Mentoring and teaching is provided for new nursing assistants to meet performance expectations. * Additional department, organization, or network activities are completed per established objectives. * MGB Organizational Values of Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence are upheld.

Licenses and Credentials
Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic [Massachusetts] - Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services preferred Nursing Assistant [LNA - New Hampshire] - New Hampshire Board of Nursing preferred

Experience
Experience working in patient care/elder care 1-2 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong patient/customer service skills.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Proficient computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
