CNB is looking for a qualified, motivated, and client- and team-focused individual to join our team as a Wealth Management & Private Banking Officer for our location in Portage, Michigan.

JOB SUMMARY

This position combines the skills of a Wealth Advisor and a Private Banker. The individual in this position will have extensive interaction with high-net-worth bank clients and prospects requiring tact and persuasiveness in presenting the bank's position. This position is responsible for developing new business, growing the departments assets under management, and the development of personal and business account relationships with professionals and their businesses. Additionally, the position is responsible for administering accounts of simple to complex in scope, where the Bank acts in the capacity of Trustee under will or inter vivos trust agreements, personal representative, guardians of the assets of minors, or legally incapacitated or decedent estates under appointment of the court, agent under a custody, safekeeping or investment management arrangements. The individual in this position will have regular interaction with bank clients and prospects in social settings requiring sophistication to represent the bank positively within the communities we serve. This individual will actively refer clients to all CNB Partners.

DUTIES

Wealth Advisor
  • Develops new business relationships - meets with clients; develops investment plans, assists them in estate planning; sells trust services; answers questions relating to tax, investment, and account management; and listens to what clients are expressing as needs/concerns.
  • Administers trust accounts (where the bank acts as trustee or as agent) in accordance with the governing document and within the policies of the bank and state laws. To ensure that each account is accomplishing the goals and priorities set by the creator; meets with the account beneficiaries to communicate account goals, and answer any questions they may have; reassures each account beneficiary that he/she is important and his/her needs are being met. Meet with account legal and/or tax representatives.
  • Carries out all duties of a guardian of real and/or personal property of minors of legally declared incompetents in accordance with the directions of the court and concerned governmental agencies and within departmental procedure and policies. Supervises annual court accountings in accordance with court required procedures. Assist in preparation of tax forms, when required.
  • Handles correspondence and maintains liaison between the bank and principals of corporate trusts and other agreements.
  • Administers real estate properties separate and apart from trust accounts which may be under direct account responsibility, maintains adequate insurance and payment of taxes on same and assures liaison between property (asset of trust) and the tenant and any other related responsibilities, including possible sale and/or rentals.
  • Remains up-to-date on legal and legislative changes which may have an impact on trust or probate administration.


Private Banking
  • Meets or exceeds sales revenue goals by selling and cross-selling bank products and services to retail, mortgage and small business clients that satisfy the financial needs and goals of the client; refers qualified client leads to the Wealth Management, Mortgage, and Business Banking.
  • Works with prospective and existing clients to assess potential overall banking needs.
  • Develops strategies to market and deliver private banking services to high-net-worth individuals.
  • Serves as trusted advisor for individuals in the community.
  • Acquires appropriate balance of deposit and fee relationships with all loan relationships in order to meet personal and business needs of clients.
  • Develops network of referral sources and centers of influence.


General
  • Participates in meetings and serves on departmental committees as required.
  • Must respect and maintain strict confidentiality of all information acquired while performing job tasks.
  • Maintains regular, on-time attendance.
  • Remains current in assigned training and continuing education for designation retention (online, video, in-house emails, telephone seminars, etc.)
  • Complies with all regulatory requirements including Bank Secrecy Act and all others specific to their position.
  • Performs other various duties as assigned.


Requirements

SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business/Finance is preferred; otherwise, must have a combination of applicable education and experience.
  • Previous investment management experience required.
  • Must have two to five years of banking experience.
  • General knowledge of trust law and probate law.
  • Passion for providing a stellar client service experience to all clients (external and internal) and ability to instill this passion in others.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (tactfulness, cooperation, courteousness and customer friendliness) are necessary to represent the bank in a positive manner.
  • Positive and cooperative approach when working with others.
  • Excellent written communication skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly, concisely and effectively, with attention to detail for visually appealing output and accurately proofreading publications.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively present information to customers and management.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong administrative skills with effectiveness in developing tasks and managing resources to achieve multiple project targets/goals.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Strong computer skills, with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
