Build the next generation of how Salesforce understands and operates its massive-scale infrastructure, ensuring the trust and availability of our customers. As the Director for the Infrastructure Monitoring team, you will deliver new and innovative capabilities for the systems that collects over 3.2 million data points per minute across our global infrastructure.

You will lead the team responsible for innovating and maintaining the massive-scale, distributed systems that monitor Salesforce's infrastructure. Your mission is to own the strategy that transforms this vast operational data into an intelligent, actionable asset that empowers our internal customers and infrastructure teams. You will achieve this by enabling agentic capabilities across massive datasets, delivering advanced health-signaling APIs to drive safe automation, and creating a unified source of truth for infrastructure health.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Vision & Roadmap: Define and own the multi-year technical vision and strategy for the organization. Translate complex business and customer requirements into an actionable roadmap, ensuring alignment with the broader infrastructure transformation goals.

  • Team Leadership & Empowerment: Build and lead a high-performing, empowered organization. Hire, retain, and develop top engineering talent , fostering a culture of innovation , psychological safety , and high performance where seasoned engineers are motivated to deliver their best work.

  • Customer Partnership: Establish strong relationships and partner with peers across Infrastructure and Product Engineering to deeply understand their needs. Ensure the telemetry, tools, and automation your team delivers enable service owners to meet and surpass their availability and security targets.

  • Innovation and Scale: Drive the architectural direction for building reliable, self-healing services on unreliable hardware. Champion the adoption of AI, Agents, and modern automation practices to solve challenges of scale, reduce toil, and enhance productivity across the organization

  • Execution & Delivery: Oversee the predictable delivery of a complex portfolio of services at a massive scale. Masterfully balance live-site management, new feature delivery, and the retirement of technical debt to maximize business value and maintain trust.

Required Skills:

  • 7+ years of experience managing software engineering teams in a fast-paced, high-growth organization.

  • Proven experience developing long-term engineering roadmaps and translating a strategic vision into actionable plans.

  • Expertise in managing the full lifecycle of distributed systems at scale, including design, development, debugging, and operation.

  • Experience leading infrastructure strategy and delivery in a hybrid environment with both first-party datacenters and public cloud technologies (especially GCP and AWS).

  • Broad technical knowledge of core infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage, databases, and security.

  • A track record of leading teams to adopt Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD) models.

  • Deep professional experience with incident management, problem management, and modern, automated change management practices.

Desired Skills:

  • A passion for leveraging AI and agent-based systems to drive operational efficiency and create new product experiences.

  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management systems like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.

  • Experience developing, measuring, and delivering against Service Level Objectives (SLOs).

  • A history of establishing modern test automation frameworks, CI/CD quality gates, and practices for ensuring safe change in environments where traditional testing is challenging.

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $211,500 to $306,600.
