Description

The Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) is seeking an Investment Research Analyst within its subsidiary company, TruePlan Benefit and Retirement Advisors (TruePlan). TruePlan is an industry leader in employee benefits and retirement plan consulting. TruePlan delivers tangible business results to finance and human resource leaders, enabling them to enhance plan offerings while remaining competitive and reducing overall plan costs. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Investment and Retirement Services, this position will support the execution of investment advisory services operations, encompassing due-diligence, investment selection, and ongoing monitoring for a large book of defined contribution (DC) retirement plan clients (401k and 403b plans), and certain non-DC institutional clients. The position holder will enhance client retirement advisory services, with an emphasis on investments and communicate investment information internally and to clients through multiple channels. The position holder will also perform investment research, performance monitoring, and various sourcing initiatives

While the incumbent will be expected to travel throughout NY and to our office in Rensselaer, NY on a regular basis, a remote working environment would be considered within New York State. The salary for this position is between $90,000 and $95,000 annually. Payrate offered will be based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities and in consideration of internal equity.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Performs investment advisory services primarily for DC retirement plans and certain non-DC institutional clients including defined benefit plans (pension plans), corporate assets and similar tax-exempt entities.
  • Collaborates with the investment advisory and client relationship management teams to provide and deliver investment and market research, investment monitoring/analysis and recommendations on the selection of investments.
  • Analyzes investment menus in defined contribution plans and makes recommendations by identifying and establishing objectives and identifying appropriate mutual fund choices for plan sponsor clients.
  • Participates in and contributes to fund manager meetings with the Sr. Director, Retirement and Investment Services.
  • Presents investment performance to retirement plan sponsors at annual and quarterly plan reviews.
  • Supports management's investment decisions with data collection, research, and evaluation.
  • Manages TruePlan's internal process for investment performance reporting and acts as liaison with the software provider (Broadridge Fi360).
  • Provides diagnostic reviews and analysis of the mutual funds and various investment vehicles in light of stated goals and time frames.
  • Supports the sales and marketing team in preparation of proposals and participates in retirement advisory sales presentations.
  • Assists with the investment consulting services for defined benefit plan and corporate asset account clients.
  • Coordinates TruePlan's quarterly market recap, global funds tracking (quantitative and qualitative), buy/focus list, and documentation of TruePlan's quarterly investment recommendations.
  • Authors content on investment topics and contributes to TruePlan's intellectual property.
  • Maintains an up-to-date working knowledge of the stable value investment market.



Qualifications:



  • BA or BS degree and a minimum of 4 years' experience in investment-related field required. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to satisfactorily perform the duties of the job may be substituted.
  • FINRA SIE, Series 7, and Series 66 or Series 63 and 65 (or to be attained within six months from date of hire to comply)


  • NYS Life Accident & Health Insurance License (or to be attained within six months from date of hire to comply).
  • Excellent group presentation and oral/written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment (traditional and virtual) is essential.
  • Excellent customer contact and planning/organizational skills required.
  • Must work well under pressure and be able to handle assigned tasks in established time frames with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • 10% to 20% travel in upstate NY, Metro-NY, Long Island and New England required
