SUMMARY/OBJECTIVES

To follow the policies and procedures of the Bank, exercising competency in the performance of position responsibilities while exhibiting courtesy, respect, and a professional demeanor to the Bank's customers and all employees of the Bank. To work for the success of the Bank by ensuring that the bank is compliant with federal laws and regulations by assisting the HMDA Loan Closing Supervisor, Director of Loan Closing, other members of the Loan Closing Department, and members of the Compliance Risk Management Department within specified duties and responsibilities. It is the responsibility of the HMDA Loan Closing Specialist Team Leader to take ownership of all tasks and challenges that they encounter in the operation of their assigned position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

It is the responsibility of the HMDA (Home Mortgage Disclosure Act) Team Leader to take ownership of all tasks and challenges that are encountered in the operation of the assigned position and staff assigned to this position including using reliable communication skills and meeting all established deadlines.

Main duties and responsibilities include the following (but are not limited to these) and to assist the Loan Closing HMDA Supervisor:

  • Oversight, coaching and training of the HMDA Team Members within Loan Closing to ensure timely and accurate production of HMDA LAR.

  • Maintaining a good working knowledge of the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act to ensure the CRA LAR is accurately prepared and maintained.

  • Manages a team of employees to ensure that tasks are completed according to established Service Level Agreements (SLA's) and that error rates are managed to meet or below established standard.

  • Assist Loan Closing HMDA Supervisor in preparation of performance reviews for staff members in a timely manner and to discuss any performance issues with

  • Contribute to staff meetings to communicate industry and company changes to maintain team unity and comprehension.

  • Liaison between Compliance and Loan Closing for any issues related to HMDA LAR.

  • Reading, analyzing, and interpreting loan applications and other loan documentation to appropriately code loans for HMDA reporting purposes.

  • Reviewing loan data and credit files on a monthly basis to verify the accuracy of data reporting on the HMDA LAR.

  • Coordinating with various lending departments within the bank to resolve errors or inconsistencies found within the HMDA data.

  • Maintaining a good working knowledge of the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act to ensure the HMDA LAR is accurately prepared and maintained.

  • Stay up to date with the bank's current lending practices and processes in order to perform a thorough and accurate comparative analysis of HMDA data.

  • Ensuring that accurate information needed for filing the LAR is provided in a timely and accurate manner as agreed to with the Enterprise Compliance team.

  • Manage the maintenance and updating of HMDA data collection and verification procedures to ensure these are in line with processes agreed to by Enterprise Compliance and the HMDA Team.

  • Identifying and reporting potential concerns or non-compliance with the HMDA regulatory requirements.

  • Performing other department duties as assigned to coordinate the well working of the Loan Closing Department.

COMPETENCIES

  • Must be able to effectively manage people; Must have a strong attention to detail and ability to meet established deadlines; Ability to coordinate multiple projects, including steady stream of new projects; Ability to interface well with all departments and with people of varying level, title and knowledge; Excellent oral and written communication skills; knowledge of Compliance rules and regulations; Must be comfortable with PC work and be able/willing to adapt to new software if/as needed.

  • Ability to problem-solve, think critically, decision-make, and appropriately escalate issues when necessary.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma required; Four-Year Degree Preferred; 3-5 years banking experience and minimum of 2 years supervisory experience required.

  • Experience: Ability to manage people; Ability to coordinate multiple projects, including steady stream of new projects; Ability to interface well with all departments and with people of varying level, title and knowledge; Excellent oral and written communication skills; Must be detail oriented and experienced in using Microsoft Excel. HMDA experience in a banking environment is preferred.

  • Knowledge: Good interpersonal skills, good computer skills, ability to read, write, speak and understand English

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/CLASSES

On the job training and any additional training as needed (i.e., MS Excel, MS CRM, Report Writing and Processing Program, General Ledger and Financial Reporting Program and Core Processing System). Required annual compliance training.

New Employee Orientation; Compliance Seminars/Webinars as available and within department schedule

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able sit for long periods of time. Must be able to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, and reports.

This position does not require travel.
