The Assistant Director for Pathway Programs and Student Belonging supports the planning, execution, and growth of programs and initiatives offered by the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (ODEIB) at Georgetown University School of Medicine (GUSOM). Primary areas of focus will address pathway programming, medical student belonging initiatives, and supervision of student staff.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Arrange, support, and contribute to the design of ODEIB events, programming, trainings, & initiatives - to include support for all premedical pathway programs.
  • Manage and support core ODEIB/GEMS program administrative functions - to include general communications, application processes, and student support.
  • Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of program review and quality improvement
  • Supervise short-term student support staff that assist with medical student and pathway program initiatives.


Work Interactions

Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging, the Assistant Director plays a critical role in supporting the strategic and operational success of the Georgetown University School of Medicine's pathway programs and student success efforts. The Assistant Director will work closely with School of Medicine students and offices, as well as partners across Georgetown University Medical Center and MedStar Health, to support the training, collaboration, and commitment to an equitable and inclusive environment that aligns with Georgetown University School of Medicine's goals of student success and belonging.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3-5 years of professional experience, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to empathetically and diplomatically navigate sensitive student issues
  • Capability to work independently with minimal oversight, manage long-term planning processes and multiple shifting priorities under varying time constraints is expected
  • Strong administrative judgment and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professional discretion are vital for success in this role

Strongly desired characteristics include knowledge of theories, best practices, and current trends in fostering belonging and student success. Therefore, the incumbent should be familiar with theories that center diversity, equity, and inclusion. The incumbent should also be adept at event planning and execution, and familiar with evaluating and assessing programs to measure impact.

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$47,586.00 - $87,558.13

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
