DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Certified Nurse's Aide under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will provide care in the following areas: Skilled Care, Personal Care, Outpatient, and General Population. Some of the daily duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Completes basic nursing skills and nursing procedures to maintain optimum inmate health and provide quality care.
  • Completes documentation as required.
  • Collects specimens as directed by the Registered Nurse for urine, feces, and sputum.
  • Completes or assists inmates with daily living activities and hygiene to ensure basic physical care needs are met.
  • Participates in Life Skills programming by: following nursing care plan orders; providing care/interventions consistent with inmate's needs; documenting on assigned aspects of nursing care plan.
  • Participates in emergency situations by: performing emergency procedures as indicated-CPR, obstructed airway; participating in emergency response drills as assigned.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
    • 1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; 2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM; and 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM. (Work hours TO BE DETERMINED)
    • 8 hr. shifts, rotating off days
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
  • Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.

Special Requirement:

  • This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
