Job Description

Monroe-Energy is seeking one (1) Maximo Solution Architect. The primary role would be end-to-end support of IBM Maximo Application Suite on premises. This scope is the Maximo Application Suite (MAS), "Manage", Openshift cluster, Oracle Database, Business Intelligence Report Tool (BIRT), Maximo Integration Framework (MIF) and all related Integrations using Snap Logic. The role includes ensuring application and database performance, reliability, and security through proactive monitoring, tuning, backups, disaster recovery planning, and managing user and external process access. The Solution Architect supports upgrades, patch management and migrations while complying with cybersecurity and regulatory standards and ensuring the Application and Database are free of vulnerabilities. Additionally, the Solution Architect collaborates with refinery wide resources to manage Maximo itself, the Maximo Integration Framework (MIF) requirements, Workflows, provide actionable insights, and deliver database-related support for audits, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts to align Maximo operations with the business needs. This position also includes the role of DBA for all of Monroe's databases. The Solution Architect must be driven and eager to continuously learn new technologies and business processes.



  • Maximo Application Suite; Administration, Development, Support and User Training.
  • Lead Maximo SME (Subject Matter Expert) for the business.
  • Monitor, maintain, and optimize Maximo Asset Management system databases to ensure high performance, high availability and reliability for the database and application servers.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Maximo table structure, metadata, and developing automation scripts for Maximo and lower environment refresh scripts.
  • Support the Maximo Integration Framework (MIF), including managing database connections and ensuring data exchange integrity.
  • Develop, implement, maintain and monitor Integrations using Snap Logic Integration software.
  • Oracle Database Administrator supporting versions 12c & Oracle19c.
  • Oracle Database Appliance Administrator models 6, 8 & 9, version 19 or higher.
  • Oracle Database backup, recovery and Disaster Recovery Lead with RMAN experience.
  • Microsoft SQL Database Administrator supporting versions 2012 through 2022.
  • Perform regular backups, restorations, disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Manage database configuration and security settings, ensuring compliance with IT and cybersecurity standards.
  • Execute database health checks, identify issues, review alert logs and implement corrective actions to prevent system downtime.
  • Strong technology troubleshooting skills and experience.
  • Perform patch management and upgrades of Maximo asset management system and database servers, ensuring compatibility with application upgrades.
  • Analyze database performance metrics and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Monitor and optimize Maximo database performance, ensuring consistent data flow and minimizing latency by optimizing database queries, indexes, and schema structures to improve system efficiency and response time.
  • Create and tune Maximo reports using the Maximo Business Intelligence Reporting Tool (BIRT).
  • Support data migration and conversion efforts during Maximo upgrades or integration projects.
  • Perform data mapping and data conversion for Maximo enhancement and integration via Snap Logic.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in integrated systems to ensure smooth operations across related applications.
  • Conduct regular security audits and address vulnerabilities in collaboration with cybersecurity teams.
  • Provide database expertise during Maximo upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and disruptions.
  • Participate in testing and validating new Maximo configurations, modules or enhancements to ensure database compatibility.
  • Provide both functional and technical Maximo support and process improvement for MAS 8.11 and or higher related to data.
  • Set up and maintain database monitoring tools to identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Generate performance and usage reports to support decision-making and long-term capacity planning.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of database and application architecture, configurations, processes and procedures.
  • Develop and update knowledge base articles to assist with troubleshooting and support tasks.
  • Train and mentor team members on Maximo database management best practices.
  • Generate complex data extracts to support the needs of the business.
  • Work closely with the Maximo business owners, IT support and operations teams to align database support with business objectives.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for the Maximo database, provide stakeholder guidance and recommendations.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to support the continuous improvement of Maximo and its integrated systems.
  • Stay updated on the latest database technologies, trends, and best practices to enhance Maximo database operations.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive database tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to developing innovative solutions to enhance the performance and scalability of Maximo systems.
  • Support a variety of refinery applications and related databases.

Experience and Skills

Minimum Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of Four (4) to seven (7) years of relevant experience in addition to education or equivalent.
  • At least 5-7 years of hands-on experience with IBM Maximo Asset Management software and database. This includes Maximo application and database configuration, customization, upgrades, patches and integrations hosted on-premises. IBM Certified Professional preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with Maximo Application Suite version 8, including Oil & Gas add-on preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience working as an Oracle Database Administrator.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Proven experience:


    • Integrating Maximo with other applications.
    • With Red Hat Enterprise and Core Linux environments and Openshift.
    • With programming in python, jython and Linux shell script
    • With HTML, XML and Javascript
    • Creating and troubleshooting Oracle and SQL queries
    • Authoring reports with BIRT.
    • Building a knowledge base for Maximo support.
    • Explaining advanced technical concepts to non-technical parties.
