TWB is seeking a Plant Engineering Manager to lead our engineering and maintenance teams in a highly technical automotive blanking and welding operation. This leader will drive continuous improvement, oversee key projects, and ensure the reliability of blanking presses, automated laser welding cells, and critical support systems.

The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with a hands-on approach, capable of balancing immediate problem-solving, long-term team development, and equipment modernization. They must possess strong project management discipline while fostering a collaborative, high-accountability culture.

Key Responsibilities



  • Technical Leadership: Guide controls and mechanical engineers in maintaining and optimizing legacy systems, ensuring sustainable knowledge transfer and process stability.
  • Process Expertise: Develop a deep understanding of blanking and laser welding processes, leading structured training for the team.
  • Project Management & Prioritization: Implement disciplined project tracking, ensuring clear priorities, timely execution, and minimal reactive problem-solving.
  • Maintenance & Reliability: Collaborate with maintenance teams to proactively address equipment challenges and build long-term operational resilience.
  • Equipment Upgrades & Modernization: Lead efforts to identify, recommend and implement strategic equipment upgrades, improving reliability, efficiency, and automation capabilities.
  • Team Development & Coaching: Serve as a collaborative coach who builds technical proficiency while enforcing accountability and strong work habits.
  • Performance Sustainability & Continuous Improvement:

    • Maintain high-reliability engineering systems, ensuring long-term process stability while minimizing reactive troubleshooting.
    • Develop structured problem-solving approaches that proactively identify and eliminate inefficiencies.
    • Balance day-to-day execution with a long-term strategic improvement mindset, ensuring operational excellence is sustained.
    • Standardize best practices in blanking and welding processes to optimize efficiency, quality, and cost control.
    • Lead cross-functional collaboration to enhance workforce engagement and process ownership, reinforcing a culture of ongoing improvement.

  • Safety Leadership & Cultural Influence:

    • Model and reinforce a safety-first mindset, ensuring engineering and maintenance decisions prioritize worker well-being.
    • Actively engage in leadership initiatives to strengthen safety culture, promoting accountability and proactive risk management.
    • Support process improvements that enhance workplace safety, integrating best practices into equipment upgrades and automation strategies.
    • Collaborate with plant leadership to drive engagement and build ownership of safety principles across teams.

  • Strategic Execution: Align engineering initiatives with corporate goals, driving cost reduction, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement.


Required Experience & Qualifications



  • Strong leadership presence with a focus on mentorship, coaching, and decisive problem-solving.
  • Expertise in legacy control systems or demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to unsupported technologies.
  • Experience in blanking, welding, machining, or automated manufacturing processes.
  • Project management expertise with proven success in prioritization and execution.
  • Proven ability to lead and implement equipment upgrades aligned with business needs.
  • CAD proficiency and process automation knowledge preferred.
  • Familiarity with NFPA electrical compliance and facility classification beneficial.
  • 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, including 2-3 years of leadership responsibility.
