As the Principal Advisor - Health, Safety, and Security for Resolution Copper, you will lead the delivery of our Health, Safety, and Security Performance Plan, providing strategic guidance and technical expertise across the function. This pivotal role is responsible for guiding a team of health, safety, and security professionals, ensuring best practice is embedded and aligned with critical risk management and compliance expectations. Working closely with health, safety, security, and operational leaders, as well as other internal and external stakeholders, you will translate strategy into action, enabling success, simplifying standards and fostering a culture across the site with our values of Care, Courage, and Curiosity at the heart. This is a high-impact role focused on capability development, continuous improvement, and supporting Resolution's goal to be Best Operator. Reporting to the Health, Safety, Security, and Environment Business Partner, you will:
- Plan and implement health, safety, and security policies and procedures in compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
- Design and implement training programs for managers, employees, and contractor partners in work site practices for health, safety, and security.
- Prepare studies and analyses of accident causes and hazards and make recommendations to mitigate causes and to avoid occurrences.
- Mentor and develop your team and manage the partnership with the project security provider
- Assist with maintaining a strategic view of the work and role within Rio Tinto.
- Lead strategic reviews, audits, and inspections as required.
- Contribute towards the development of Rio Tinto's health, safety, and security guidelines and standards.
- Facilitate and/or advise on risk assessment methods for health, safety, and security.
- Network and collaborate with relevant external organizations and consultants to gain insights and opportunities for health, safety, and security program improvements.
- Maintain an awareness of international best practice and competitor position in the field of health, safety, and security.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in health and safety or another relevant discipline.
- Significant experience in roles with health, safety, and security technical responsibilities, preferably in operational or major project environments with the ability to work in surface and underground environments
- Experienced and inclusive leader with a coaching mindset, motivating and supporting others to grow and succeed.
- Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into practical outcomes in diverse, real-world settings and effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail for complex scenarios.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience and knowledge of the different project study stages, inputs, and deliverables.
- Risk management, budget management, contract and contractor management, analysis & reporting and operational knowledge.
- Experience with Emergency Response or Mines Rescue Team programs, Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA), Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) & Health, Safety, Security and Environment Management System tools.
- Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software, to gather, assess, and synthesize key metrics, trends, and insights, delivering actionable reports to inform strategic decision-making.

Where you will be working Resolution Copper has the potential to supply nearly 25% of the US copper demand and create several thousand direct and indirect jobs in the Pioneer Mining District of Arizona, with an economic value of several billion dollars over the estimated mine life. The project will rely on a technique called block caving to extract the deposit that lies more than 2,000 meters deep. This technique uses gravity to help remove the ore and is the most viable way to recover the resource. In anticipation of the Final EIS in 2025, Resolution Copper will continue underground development, conduct extensive drilling and orebody testing, plus maintain the permitting and public engagement process.
