Job Summary
The Auburn University Libraries is seeking candidates for the position of Library Technical Specialist in the Collections, Discovery, & Resource Sharing Department. Reporting to the supervisor in the Discovery Unit, this position will be responsible for cataloging and processing library resources as assigned, including monographs, e-books, audiovisual materials, and streaming media.

This is a two-year limited-term appointment. Continuation of employment is contingent upon the availability of funding.

Essential Functions

  • Adaptive and copy cataloging of monographs
  • Assists with adaptive and copy cataloging of e-books, streaming media, and other library materials as assigned
  • Search and retrieval of resource records in third-party databases for cataloging library resources
  • Updates holdings in third-party databases as needed
  • With training provided, ability to identify problems in resource records, make corrections, and request assistance when needed
  • Participate in departmental and library meetings, including service on library committees and project teams
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent plus 4 years of relevant experience managing and processing complex data or materials in an office setting, and familiarity with computer applications.

Substitutions allowed for Experience:
When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
