About the Department and/or College

The Center for Biotechnology & Genomics at Texas Tech University promotes and facilitates faculty and student research in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, and molecular genetics. The Center provides technical support for research and a nucleus for interdisciplinary research and training initiatives at Texas Tech University and the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

Major/Essential Functions


  • Prepare and distribute monthly FOP balance and usage reports to the Director and department to support decision-making.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and provide ad hoc financial updates and reports to the Director.
  • Support accounting services including rate development, fiscal year budget preparation, and salary planner.
  • Maintain financial records in compliance with TTU retention and destruction policies.
  • Manage all procurement activities for the department, including TechBuy purchases, P-Card reconciliation, and travel processing (arrangements and reimbursements).
  • Handle internal and external billing, including QuickBooks transactions and IV processing.
  • Coordinate HR and payroll activities, including job postings, recruiting, new hire processing, funding changes, and monthly payroll reconciliations.
  • Maintain HR and payroll records in accordance with TTU policies.
  • Stay current on TTU, state, and federal HR policies by attending training and forums; communicate updates to center personnel and implement changes as needed.
  • Provide administrative assistance to the Center Director, including meeting scheduling, deadline coordination, communication management, and other assigned tasks.
  • Schedule rooms and coordinate activities for the Center, such as seminars, guest visits, student events, special functions, and departmental meetings.
  • Serve as departmental coordinator for the annual SECC fundraising campaign.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus three years related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience to equal seven years.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiar with Academic Service Centers (17A funds)

Pay Statement
