Job Description

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Assistant Manager, Materials Management

Support hospital operations and patient care by managing the day-to-day functions of Materials Management. The Assistant Manager, Materials Management ensures smooth departmental performance, coordinates staff and supply logistics, and drives compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards. This is a leadership opportunity to enhance service delivery and operational excellence.

Role Overview

    Oversee General Stores/Central Stores daily operations across all functions; logistics, inventory, receiving, delivery, and Durable Materials and Equipment.
  • Coordinate work assignments and ensure efficient workflow and task prioritization.
  • Supervise and evaluate team performance; participate in hiring, training, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure availability, cleanliness, and functionality of materials management equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain department inventory management systems to ensure accurate data and replenishment efficiency.
  • Maintain supply levels and ensure appropriate sourcing within fiscal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Lead quality and process improvement initiatives to enhance department efficiency and compliance.
  • Monitor regulatory and safety standards, including JCAHO, HAACP, and environmental care protocols.
  • Serve as acting manager during absences, with full decision-making authority.
  • Participate in cross-functional committees and special projects that support SCO and hospital-wide goals.

Key Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in materials management, logistics, food service, or healthcare supply chain.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance (e.g., JCAHO, NYS/NYC Health Codes).
  • Strong ability to multitask and manage priorities in a dynamic environment.

Core Skills

  • Team building and collaboration in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
  • Adaptability to evolving operational needs and technologies.
  • Ability to manage and lead projects

Additional Information:

  • Pay Range: $67,900.00-$105,300.00
  • Reporting to Associate Director, Materials Management
  • Schedule: On-site M-F, 8:30am - 4:30pm, with flexibility at needed
  • Location: Main Campus - 1275 York Ave, New York, NY10065
