General Manager - BPS - F&A and Payroll (Remote)

Provide senior-level operational management for multi tower Business Process Services delivery team supporting procure to pay, also known as accounts payable (AP) with elements of procurement, order to cash, also known as accounts receivable (AR), and record to reporting, also known as general ledger (GL) activities. Responsibility also extends to various project management and customer liaison internally and externally. Serve as the primary planner and executor of all operational duties, process improvements, cost initiatives, cross training efforts, automation initiatives, organization restructuring where applicable, contract management, revenue and cost management, P&L management including forecasting, variance analysis, sales, and solution design. The role will require evaluation, design, execution, measurement, monitoring, and quality control of all business processes and will work to ensure that business process outcomes are in harmony with the organization's strategic goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as operational lead for multi tower delivery group.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all request for proposals (RFP) under the finance and accounting (F&A) umbrella. Inclusive of sales pursuit support as required by collaborating with Cognizant commercial account teams to grow the existing business by identifying and defining business value opportunities for the customer.
  • Lead program governance across multi tower by executing stakeholder management protocols, communication patterns with internal and external partners, change management communication, scope of work management. Including ownership of all contract master service agreements (MSA) and supporting scope of work (SoW) documents requiring adherence and compliance monitoring. Along with comprehension and understanding terms and contractual purpose along with execution protocols to initiate renewals and negotiations.
  • Supervise and maintain operational activities to ensure service level agreement adherence, per contractual requirements.
  • Understand and maintain contractual requirements to ensure operational initiatives comply as stated contractually. Monitor and enforce operational policies and procedures across delivery teams.
  • Work with risk and controls to ensure service and delivery compliance. Annual SSAE18 support and adherence to deliverable requirements
  • Build metric reporting and/or modify existing metrics to ensure solid summary updates, where applicable.
  • Establish tracking tools to capture volumes across various processes, where applicable.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for F&A and the customer primary point of contacts or applicable customer departments.
  • Manage cross country operational responsibilities. Serving as primary owner of all work functions and acting as liaison between internal groups across the U.S, Canada, and India.
  • Build solid working relationships with customer primary point of contacts.
  • Serve as primary for all customer governance calls.
  • Guide and support direct reports in all operational activities, service level adherence, cross training initiatives to build back up plans and strong operational foundation, process improvements and employee mentorship.
  • Plan and execute project initiatives focused on process improvements and efficiencies.
  • Serve as the primary location contact supporting new hires, customers, and employee concerns and/or infrastructure requirements.
  • Work with operation leads to define career development plans to assist with individual growth.
  • Serve as a primary owner of the operational monthly profit and loss (P&L) packet, including execution of preparing and submitting monthly forecasting and providing variance analysis. Additionally, cost reduction execution to ensure margin expectations. P&L adherence to all internal deliverable dates.
  • Manage and track cost and conduct analysis to understand variances.
  • Establish pro-active management protocols to manage all operational deliverables.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the director to ensure operational success based on contractual requirements, project initiatives and cost management efforts.

Education and/or Guidelines (Typical):

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of operational management

Recommended skill requirements:

  • Multi tower operational experience including knowledge in various aspects of finance and accounting (AP, AR, GL, payroll, taxes, audit and compliance)
  • Six sigma lean certification. Green or black belt level.
  • Ability to provide insight into potential process improvements while ensuring adherence to the best operational practices
  • Ability to execute operational efficiency by delivering operational results above targeted operating cost and profit.
  • Ability to perform financial analysis along with strong ability to document business reasons for any identified deviations in the operating cost and profit.
  • Ability to outline corrective actions to implement strategies to meet the targets and reduce the operating cost.
  • Attention to details in all operational, audit, financial and program management aspects.
  • Hands-on management style required to ensure compliance and alignment of services.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $120,000 - $150,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
