  • The Site Merchandising Manager will be responsible for helping to grow the digital business by optimizing the merchandising presentation of Petco.com via navigational, promotional and internal search optimization. The Site Merchandiser will be accountable for managing assigned sections of the site against key e-commerce KPIs, i.e. demand, conversion, average order value.

    The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.

    • Acting a liason between the Merchandising and Ecommerce organization, the Site Merchandising Manager will be responsible for creating and executing a vision and plan take the Petco.com site experience to the next level (navigation, search, and curation) and offer a best-in-class customer experience.
    • Implement merchandising strategies online to contribute to overall business goals; Maximize placement of products and digital assets to drive sales, margin and traffic. Thoroughly understand competitive landscape primarily focused on navigation, search, customer experience, and driving roadmap priorities to incorporate into the business.
    • Accountable for execution of weekly site-wide and category plans including product placement and promotional approach; analyzing site/category offers to determine effectiveness and opportunity.
    • Continually analyze, execute, and provide improvements to the customer experience as it relates to navigation and product page content; provide reporting to stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
    • Work cross functionally to launch site stories and ensure the customer experience is clear and conversion driving.
    • Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all professional contacts with emphasis on company interests. Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required, assigned and directed.
    • Achieving topline and bottom line sales plans, conversion goals, usability performance targets and corporate objectives.
    • Identify, recommend and implement strategies that improve visitor engagement and conversion

    Other Duties and Responsibilities

    Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.

    As needed or directed, travel (by plane/car) domestically and internationally to meet with vendors and attend conferences and meetings.

    Provide leadership to direct reports and cross-functional teams by offering clear, direct and constructive feedback and coaching; ensure associates receive the job assignments, formal training, development experiences and exposure to leaders within the organization to equip them for effective job performance and career growth; ensure the highest skill set of competencies necessary to meet and exceed company objectives; actively pursue the development of bench strength.

    Nature of Supervision

    Operates under general direction. Functional guidance is provided on some, but not all responsibilities performed. This position occasionally must exercise independent judgment and decision making on complex issues. The incumbent is expected to use related experience to evaluate and judge situations and make independent decisions that result in appropriately setting and achieving company goals.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    Responsible for management of Site Merchandising Team.Othermanagement tasks include, but are not limited to, providing input and direction on such topics as key goals and objectives; strategic and tactical planning, implementation and execution; budgetary issues; capital expenditures andassociate management, training and development. Additionally, this position willinteract witha cross-functional team over which it does not have direct administrative authority.

    Planning & Problem Solving

    This position has some previous experience in this capacity either internally or externally, but it often operates in a development or training-level capacity with the eventual goal of becoming a fully developed and qualifiedmanager. It is accountable for developing and executing the overall merchandising strategy and tactics for assigned products/category(s). Only end results are evaluated.

    Education/Experience

    Normally requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Requires a minimum of four years progressively responsible, professional-level eCommerce experience. Successful candidate should have demonstrated experience running and optimizing large scale business programs, specifically large ecommerce projects, and developing proven strategies to increase customer lifetime value is preferred.

    Specific functional experience should include business management, product management, channel management, pricing and inventory management. Also, requires advanced business acumen and analytical skills necessary for proper financial modeling and management of assigned category(s), including the ability to control financial metrics required to achieve profit objectives. Must have advanced computer skills, including MS Office Suite and the aptitude to learn and utilize new internal applications. Additionally, this position requires a highly advanced level of knowledge, competency and continued development in the following areas with the ability to effectively:

    • Leading a small staff of less experienced partners and/or cross-functional team
    • Persuade, and motivate others with the ability to flex style as the situation requires, and collaborate or empower as needed
    • Understand and communicate with a diverse set of leaders and associates at various levels and within various functional areas
    • Continue to expand ability to manage multiple responsibilities with the skill to multi-task and shift focus from one task to another seamlessly
    • Recognize and seize upon opportunities to maximize sales and profitability
    • Champion change management efforts through the effective utilization of the talent of team members

    Competencies:

    Work Environment

    Operates in a standard office environment.The majority ofjob duties are performed while seated indoors with little or no exposure to hazards.Day and overnight domestic travel to vendors, seminars and/or conferences is required periodically throughout the year.Extended domestic and overseas travel may occur periodically throughout the year.

    Contacts

    This position will primarily have contact with eCommerce Leaders, Merchandising & Category Managers and occasionally with senior-level management to discuss and report on issues relating to Petco.com Site Experience. It will have daily contact with members of its direct reporting team, cross-functional CMO and Marketing team members and business partners from the NSC.

The pay ranges outlined below are presented in accordance with state-specific regulations. These ranges may differ in other areas and could be subject to variation based on regulatory minimum wage requirements. Actual pay rates will depend on factors such as position, location, level of experience, and applicable state or local minimum wage laws. If the regulatory minimum wage exceeds the minimum indicated in the pay range below, the regulatory minimum wage will be the minimum rate applied.
