FTE:0.1 Shift: Days Schedule: Variable Position Summary The MultiCare Cancer Institute (MCI) Regional Medical Leader of Surgical Oncology will function in an administrative role to coordinate the delivery of surgical oncology care as needed in compliance with standards and regulations set forth by The Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies; national peer-reviewed clinical guidelines/pathways; and National Accreditation Program for Surgical Oncology. The Regional Medical Leader of Surgical Oncology will assist the MCI leadership, to lead and innovate within the surgical oncology department while maintaining focus on patient care. Responsibilities Provide a leadership role in the conduct and coordination of surgical oncology care in assigned Region. Annually attend national surgical oncology conferences and present and implement relevant learnings, data, industry trends within the oncology team. Participate in local, regional and national surgical related committees involving research activities, value-based care and clinical pathways. Participate in surgical oncology presentations at national or international conferences in collaboration with other surgical programs in the state. Participate in regular review and evaluation of all quality and appropriateness of surgical oncology patient care rendered by MCI in the assigned region. Such a review to be carried out through specifically- designated medical staff mechanisms. Participate in the development of MCI Regional surgical oncology programs and services to serve the needs of patients as deemed medically appropriate. Participate defining the scope of surgical oncology practice at MCI assigned region in a manner consistent with and supportive of, the MCI mission and strategic goals, and advocate the MCI's interests related to surgical oncology services within the MCI regional oncology medical staff and care delivery locations. Assess the cost effectiveness of surgical oncology practice within the MCI assigned region and recommend methods by which the most economical use of equipment, supplies and pharmaceuticals can be assured without compromising the medical necessities of treatment. Facilitate communication and collaboration among surgical oncology team, including mentoring junior staff, to create a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Work with the President and CMO of MCI and the surgical oncology leadership team to develop and lead integration of short- and long-term strategies for the program. Requirements Graduate of accredited medical school (MD or DO) Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Washington Board Certified in General Surgery; with fellowship training in Surgical Oncology Minimum of 5 years of experience in surgical oncology Demonstrated track record of clinical excellence Leadership or administrative experience with healthcare setting preferred Our Values As a MultiCare employee, we'll rely on you to reflect our core values of Respect, Integrity, Stewardship, Excellence, Collaboration, Kindness and Joy. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $499,200.00 - $499,200.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
