Posting Summary |
The Center for Women and Work (
CWW) at Rutgers School of Management and Labor Relations engages in research, education, and programming that promotes economic and social equity for women workers, their families, and communities. CWW's work focuses on issues such as women's economic stability, workplace advancement, providing technical assistance, and designing research and programming for educators, industry, and government. The center is dedicated to addressing the living standards of working families in New Jersey and globally.
Position Overview:
CWW is seeking a Post-Doctoral Associate to support a project that seeks to document and better understand the role worker organizations have played in addressing inequities - especially racial inequities - in the healthcare system. Further, the project seeks to track and document worker organization responses to the current administration plans for the Veterans Healthcare Administration and the Indian Health Service.
The Post-Doctoral Associate will support the research team primarily through qualitative research, including conducting interviews with labor leaders and activists. Additional responsibilities may include participant observation of relevant meetings and events, media and website scans, drafting and editing literature reviews, and contributing to reports and other research products. The associate will also help develop and refine the project's Theory of Change model, ensuring it aligns with strategic objectives and incorporates emerging insights. As the project evolves in collaboration with the funder, responsibilities may shift or expand.
This one-year position, beginning in June 2025, has the potential for renewal for an additional six months. It offers an invaluable opportunity to collaborate closely with faculty mentors to develop skills that will prepare the associate for academic or public policy careers. The post-doc will work under the supervision of faculty members Adrienne Eaton, Rebecca Givan and under the direction of post-doc Phela Townsend. Funding for this position and this project is being provided by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
The Post-Doctoral Associate position offers a $75,000 salary, health insurance, and other benefits. Preference will be given to a candidate who is or can be located in or near New Jersey though remote candidates will be considered.
