Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) provides educational outreach functions for Cornell University's role as New York State's Land Grant University. The Lake Ontario Fruit Program (LOFP) is one of the premier agricultural extension programs in New York, serving a large multi-county region in the Western part of the state. The team's Fruit Specialists work together with Cornell faculty and extension educators statewide to address the issues that impact the fruit industry. What You Will Do As a Temporary Fruit Field Research Technician, you will provide technical support to team members in carrying out research activities that will ultimately enhance the profitability and sustainability of the fruit industry. Help team members set up and maintain plots as needed for field research. Other duties include:

This is an eight-week appointment (39 hours/week) from August through September with possible extension depending on funding and performance. Candidate may start earlier with the possibility of reduced hours. The travel of this position may require a non-traditional workweek consisting of three to four 10 - 13 hour workdays. Working overtime (more than 40 hours/week) can be occasional. This position will be located in Newark, New York. Fieldwork will be centered in commercial apple orchards in the counties of Niagara, Orleans, and Wayne, as well as laboratory facilities at Cornell AgriTech in Geneva. Compensation is $20.00/hour.
