Genesis10 is seeking a Mainframe DB2 DBA for a 100% remote 3-month contract with possible extension. This is a fully remote position with a wholesale client.

Responsibilities:

  • Upgrade Planning:

    • Assess current DB2 12.1 environment and prepare a detailed upgrade plan.
    • Identify dependencies and potential impacts on existing applications and services.
    • Develop a comprehensive testing strategy to ensure a smooth transition.


  • Execution of Upgrade:

    • Lead the execution of the DB2 13.1 upgrade process, ensuring minimal downtime.
    • Coordinate with development and operations teams to address any compatibility issues.
    • Implement necessary changes to database configurations and settings post-upgrade.


  • Maintenance Application:

    • Apply maintenance updates and patches as required for the new version.
    • Conduct thorough testing to validate that all functionalities are operating correctly.
    • Monitor system performance and optimize configurations for improved efficiency.


  • Documentation & Reporting:

    • Maintain detailed documentation of the upgrade process, including challenges encountered and solutions implemented.
    • Provide regular updates and reports on progress to stakeholders.


  • Collaboration & Support:

    • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation.
    • Offer support and guidance during the post-upgrade phase to address any issues that arise.




Required Experience & Skills:

  • Experience: Minimum 10-15 years of experience in DB2 database administration, with a proven track record of managing upgrades.
  • Technical Skills:

    • In-depth knowledge of DB2 12.1 and familiarity with features and changes introduced in DB2 13.1.
    • Experience with upgrade planning, execution, and post-upgrade maintenance.


  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Certifications: Preferred certification in DB2 administration (e.g., IBM Certified Database Associate - DB2).
