About the Job

The French lab at The Hormel Institute, University of Minnesota is looking to recruit a highly motivated researcher to join our multi-disciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biochemistry, structural biology, cellular metabolism and the enzymology of metabolic proteins. Training and expertise in the biophysical characterization of proteins, assay development, and advanced microscopy is particularly desired. Experience with the characterization of nucleotide metabolic proteins will be considered a strong asset. The lab has a number of NIH- and NSF-funded basic and translational research projects including the characterization of higher order structures of proteins involved in nucleotide metabolism, the identification of novel nucleobase transport proteins, the discovery and development of immunomodulatory inhibitors as drug leads, and mechanistic studies of signal transduction in photoactive proteins. The selected candidate would be expected to work independently as an intellectual leader in at least one major project area and contribute to other research in the lab. For more information about projects and recent publications, please see the lab webpage at: https://sbufrenchlab.wordpress.com/. This position provides an excellent learning opportunity and access to state-of-the-art resources and facilities, including top-of-the-line instruments for structural biology, cell biology, microscopy and the biophysical characterization of proteins.
