At Arizona State University (ASU), we advance education through innovation, teaching, and technology. The Learning Experience (LX) Design team within Enterprise Technology enhances inclusive, technology-driven learning environments. As an AI Instructional Designer Associate, you will collaborate with instructional designers, the AI Creative Technology Specialist, and the AI Learning Strategist to develop engaging, learning materials. This role supports faculty and subject matter experts in integrating instructional technologies, creative tools (Adobe Creative Cloud), and AI-driven solutions within teaching and learning. Under general direction, you will assist in designing, developing, and implementing educational content that aligns with best practices in  instructional design, AI integration, digital learning, and pedagogy.

As with all members of the Enterprise Technology team, this role carries core responsibilities, including fostering a sense of belonging and cultivating a culture that is relational, visionary, and empowering. With a strong emphasis on authenticity and compassion, this position is dedicated to embodying and advancing our culture. 

Salary: $50,000 annually

Essential Duties:

AI and Creative Technology Integration

  • Collaborate with the AI Creative Technology Specialist to integrate, showcase, and advise how Adobe Creative Cloud and digital portfolios could be integrated into teaching and learning environments.
  • Develop training materials, tutorials, and instructional guides for faculty on AI integration and creative technology adoption.
  • Use Adobe products to create interactive learning content, enhancing digital literacy and showcase potential for incorporating these tools into teaching and learning.
  • Participate in quality assurance reviews of digital learning resources, implementing best practices in AI learning design.
  • Provide technical support and faculty training on AI-powered applications, and content authoring tools. 
  • Cross-train to support all enterprise-wide technology tools 

Training, Workshops, and Faculty Support

  • Plan and facilitate workshops on AI-driven learning tools and digital creativity in collaboration with the AI Learning Strategist and AI Creative Technology Specialist. 
  • Support faculty in leveraging AI for teaching, learning, and assessment strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of research-backed frameworks and best practices for integrating AI and creative technologies in instructional design.

Collaboration and Special Projects

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Technology teams, faculty, and external partners to implement AI and creative technology initiatives aligned with ASU’s mission.
  • Assist in planning for and activating creative technology physical or digital environments dedicated to creative technology use in education and supporting AI and creative learning initiatives.
  • Support AI and creative technology events, ensuring effective coordination, documentation, and stakeholder engagement. 
  • Collaborate across teams and actively participate in ET/ASU events and programs.
  • Take responsibility for fostering a positive culture, upholding organizational values, and championing engagement in all its forms.

Technology Utilization and Continuous Improvement

  • Use and recommend instructional technologies to enhance learning experiences, including content authoring tools, document creation applications, and presentation tools.
  • Collaborate with ASU and external stakeholders to improve design and development processes.
  • Stay current on AI developments and emerging creative technologies, evaluating AI tools for classroom use and assessing their impact on student learning.
  • Provide ongoing troubleshooting, technical assistance, documentation, and support to faculty and subject matter experts.
  • Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, instructional design principles, pedagogical approaches, and best practices for diverse learning environments.
  • Proficiency in, or willingness to learn, industry-standard tools for content development, presentations, web applications, and tutorials.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and their application in instructional design.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technology-related issues across various platforms.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, subject matter experts, and team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to model empathy, compassion, and emotional intelligence.
  • Experience in a values-driven organization with a strong commitment to inclusion and belonging.

Working Environment:

  • Activities primarily take place in a standard, climate-controlled office environment and may involve extended periods of sitting, standing, or moving between office spaces.
  • This role involves regular use of a computer (desktop and/or laptop), including a keyboard and mouse.
  • Effective communication and proficiency with a variety of technologies are essential for collaboration with the broader team.
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Regular responsibilities may require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
