Position Overview: We have an exciting opportunity open on our team for a safety-focused, reliable and passionate Senior Electronic Design Engineer. The role of the Senior Electronic Design Engineer is to lead the design and development of electrical control circuits, embedded and control software, PCB and circuit design. Research and develop practical solutions that meet customer needs, improve functionality to existing designs, and reduce costs of existing designs. - Design hardware for electrical monitoring and control systems, meeting regulatory standards.
- Design the electrical system with schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
- Develop embedded software/firmware to run on microcontrollers, Linux SBCs or PLCs.
- Assist test, QA and production teams by providing tools, in hardware or software, to automate testing of electrical products.
- Work with Purchasing to source, evaluate, and specify manufactures and vendors for purchased electrical/electronic components parts.
- Provide Bill of Material maintenance for specific projects using ERP system.
- Consult with internal customers, sales and marketing, and manufacturing to formulate engineering requirements and specifications applying knowledge of customers, products and services to anticipate customer problems and needs. In conjunction with product management document requirements as verifiable deliverables for product development.
- Supply accurate work estimates for assigned tasks that take into account potential barriers and interruptions.
- Demonstrate accountability for completing work assignments to meet agreed upon commitments and deadlines.
- Research and develop practical solutions and products for our customer. Address increasingly complex technical problems and draw upon experience, analytical skills, and creative thinking, to develop solutions.
- Work with test team and technical writing team to aid in the creation of test documentation and user documentation.
- Oversee and perform Research and Development tests with engineering test department personnel.
- Provide customer assistance through problem solving, training and sales assistance.
- Stay current in new developments in the industry.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of company product development processes.
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have:
- Knowledge and understanding of Electrical Engineering principals.
- Knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
- Knowledge and experience of developing embedded software in assembly, C and C++.
- Knowledge and experience of developing PLC software in ladder and ST.
- Knowledge and experience with analog and digital communication methods, for example: Modbus, RFID, RS485, CAN, TCP/IP, SPI, I2C, 4-20mA
- Knowledge and experience with common MCU peripherals, for example: ADC, PWM, Timers
- Knowledge and experience with basic RF concepts, such as: modulation, bandwidth, impedance, resonance
- Knowledge of and experience with solving technical problems and draw upon experience, analytical skills, and creative thinking, to develop solutions.
- Knowledge of or experience with regulatory or quality compliance standards / processes GLP, FDA 21 CFR part 11, and ISO (example: GAMP, CMM, Six Sigma).
- Knowledge of EMC, ESD and environmental testing standards.
- Knowledge of electronic test equipment including VOM, Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer and hand tools.
- In-depth industry knowledge and understanding of customer needs and requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret bid plans, blueprints, schematics and facility drawings.
- Ability to present an idea to an individual and to a group.
- Ability to translate technical product knowledge to both technical and non-technical customers.
- Ability to direct and make decisions with customers and contractors.
- Ability to manage projects to scheduled commitments and budgets.
- Professional level presentation skills.
Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering for Electrical Design related curriculum or 5 years equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years practical electrical design experience. What We Offer:
