Position Summary

The Testing Supervisor will report to the Testing/ Termination and Service Manager and is responsible for supervising the testing and termination operations and processes of a team that manufactures umbilical's for the oil and gas industry. Provides direction and hasauthority for personnel actions and oversees day to day operations ensuring the work is performed safely with the highest quality, lowest cost and on time. Reviews production schedules, material and manpower resources'; assigns employees to maximize objectives while maintainingquality andoutput requirements. Participates indetermining operational methods and processes and recommends changes. Maintains a variety of reports, records and documentation to reflect schedules and performance and is theTesting Continuous Improvement (CI) Leader for department. Responsible for the Testing and Termination of products that meet cost, quality and delivery targets by effectively managing the Testing department andemployees; ensuring a safe and productive work environment;driving improvements with Continuous Improvement techniques. This person must develop a culture of Continuous Improvement throughout workforce andclearly demonstrate where Continuous Improvement has impact. Demonstrate support ofLean approach to manufacturing (6S, Standard Work, SQDIP,) and continuous improvement activities (root cause investigation, countermeasure development).


Duties And Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day operation of assigned area including workflow, management of work in process, job assignments, rotations, etc.
  • Review daily/weekly time sheets for accuracy.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment through delivery of monthly safety training topics, department safety audits, and participation in incident reviews. Enforce compliance with all safety policies and procedures. Contribute safety and improvement suggestions.
  • Exercise the use of stop work authority and a trust but verify environment to the safety plan, JSEA, and proper safety protocols that is foundational to the Oceaneering safety culture.
  • Ensure the proper plan, procedures, and drawings are not only correct, but also ensure the team is following these plans at the work center.
  • Supports positive employee relations with employees including valuing differences, engagement action planning, and monitoring compliance with company policies and procedures to support company goals and objectives.
  • Develops, trains, and involves employees in maintaining and improving departmental efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, cooperation, and morale. Will utilize new hire orientation, competency program, performance reviews and other management tools.
  • Monitor product quality to meet customer specifications, ensuring that Good Manufacturing Practices are effectively deployed in area of responsibility.
  • Perform essential recordkeeping and timekeeping functions for department personnel. Monitor employee attendance and absenteeism, holding employees accountable as necessary.
  • Plans, organizes, and supervises shift operations in accordance with production schedules in the most cost-effective manner. Responsible for process control.Maintains total awareness of policies and procedures and assures compliance by assigned employees.
  • Communicates formally and informally on daily basis, verbally and in writing, all discrepancies, changes in schedules, and shift activities of significance. Facilitates shift meetings and coordinates inter-plant and plant-vendor product movement to meet production schedules.
  • Contacts appropriate engineer or area manager to resolve problems occurring on the shift.Reviews quality and rework problems, and initiates corrective action.
  • Support the equipment maintenance program by ensuring that operators are performing scheduled Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) activities. Coordinate maintenance activities for repair of critical equipment on shift of responsibility.
  • Resolves personnel problems, analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions and recommending action in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements, implementing change.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Maintain visual management boards with key performance metrics/data and conduct daily accountability meetings. Lead Continuous ImprovementBoard activities to generate & implement ideas toimprove safety, quality, delivery and cost.
  • Drive improvements in Operational Equipment Efficiency (OEE) by optimizing machine utilization and capacity.
  • Responsible for writing and updating manufacturing work instructions, procedures, JSEA's and checklists.
  • Managing the Management of Change (MOC) process as it relates to manufacturing work instructions, manufacturing processes and equipment modifications, issuing Information notices and supporting relevant training of changes.
  • Coordinate Non-Conformance reporting with the QA manager and manufacturing personnel.
  • Assisting with new equipment purchase, modification and installation.
  • Identifying and procuring better tools, fixtures, and equipment for Testing.
  • Participate in all Testing, Termination and Load-out pre-meetings and assist with Testing, Termination and load-out operations.
  • Participate in Project meetings and coordinate Testing requirements to meet or exceed expectations of all Project deliverables.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 5 years experience supervising manufacturing operations is required.
  • Ability to work all shifts if required, 7am -7pm or 7pm-7am with potential to coverrotating shifts and weekends.
  • Must work independently with limited supervision.
  • Capable of assigning work to hourly workforce and holding employees accountable for following processes pertaining to daily work assignments in terms safety, quality, and throughput.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Must have effective verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage work stoppages and slow-downs caused by equipment or product.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Projects).
  • Direct experience in the implementation of continuous improvement tools and principles in both manufacturing and business processes.
  • Continuous Improvement (CI), training in Lead/Six Sigma preferred.

DESIRED:

  • 4-year university degree in engineering, business, or equivalent preferred, with5 years experience in supervision within a manufacturing operation required.
